Living nearby, I have naturally eaten here on several occasions. And I have enjoyed myself each and every time. I had a reasonably large group with me recently, and I can happily and truthfully say that all of us in the group were extremely pleased with the team at Olympic Park, who delivered great food and service for us, giving us a dinner we will remember.
Unfortunately I was too busy enjoying the food to take a photo so my review is text only. Personally I just got the loaded beef burger, and it was really delicious. The pattie was thicker than I'm used to, and the burger was so big it was difficult to manage. But I did! And enjoyed every bite. My wife and a few others had the beef ribs, and I managed to snag one of the ribs, and omg - so tender and juicy. A friend sitting across from me got the eye fillet medium rare, and I had a bite of it and we both agreed it was the best we've had in a while as it was actually cooked to "perfect" medium rare (I know there can't be a perfect medium rare because it is a range of temps, and therefore it is subjective - but for both of us, this happened to be perfect). We all ensured to reserve a small spot in our tummies for deserts, and tried a few which were all delicious.
The key will be consistency. Many places we regularly visit are unable to maintain consistency. Steaks, ribs, all cooked perfectly, until they're not. So based on my few visits I can definitely recommend coming here, but I cannot comment on the consistency as I haven't visited enough times.
By the way, if anybody from R&R is reading - on your website's menu page, you spelled "vouchers"...
Read moreI was very disappointed with the quality of the meals at Ribs and Rumps - Sydney Olympic Park. I used to be a regular customer at Manly when they were open and loved the experience there and was also saddened by the closure. I have had 90% good experiences in the past and the 10% when it wasn't so pleasant, I was looked after.
I am not sure if there has been a change in the ownership or what has happened with the company in the past but it seemed like they started "not caring" and lost passion for the quality of the food and the level of service.
The basting on the ribs, still fantastic - but hardly any meat attached. The rump steak, I can go to a local pub and find a better steak for $10. The 250g chicken ribs, four pieces (is that really 250g?). The seafood, I can find better quality seafood in the freezer aisle at Coles. And the service, I felt like I was at a Rashays - if that.
I have always been the person to give high praise about the brand and the restaurant to my social connections in the past, but this time I had failed.
The question I would like to ask is, would you really pay $258.00 for four people in a restaurant like this? I believe this organisation really needs to reconsider their target market and either improve the quality of the food and the service or decrease the price to match the level it's currently at.
I am a person that doesn't care how much I spend on food as long as I get the appropriate quality - and I am sure most people are in the same vote.
I would love to see the organisation grow again with continuous improvements made to get back to the quality you guys...
Read moreI had a lot of hope for Ribs and Rumps, having eaten at the Fortitude Valley restaurant before in Brisbane. To find out it was less than 5km from my place in Sydney, I was excited. The service was good, very accommodating and food and drinks came out in a timely fashion. My cocktail was great (June Bug) and my partner ordered a Pina Colada but unfortunately tasted watered down and not at all like the tropical island drink that she was expecting. When our food arrived, it outwardly looked great. The onion rings were well sized and had a great crunch, just what you would expect out of an onion ring. The main course however (Combo Mixed Grill), I couldn't say the same. Like the onion rings, everything looked wonderful, instagram worthy even. But unfortunately the flavours weren't there. I've had some pretty good American BBQ before (despite having never travelled to American BBQ country itself) nothing packed a punch and made me really want seconds nor did I feel like licking the bbq sauce off my fingers like I have done elsewhere. (I didnt even need to use the complimentary wet towel they provide! That's how little I used my fingers, how outrageous). The lamb ribs certainly was my favourite part of the mix grill. We didn't stay for dessert, instead we dejectedly walked down the road to the nearby Cold Rock because I didn't want to spend any more money on a not-so-flavourful meal. Thanks for the experience but I think your chef needs a...
