Dear Crunch Management @ Crunch Bankstown-2200
This is a serious complaint regarding the air conditioning system, which has not been working properly for the past 3â4 days, especially after 7 PM and up to closing time (around 10 PM).
The situation is completely unacceptable â members are being forced to train in extreme heat and poor ventilation during summer evenings, creating a dangerous and unhygienic environment. The temperature inside becomes unbearable, with no airflow or cooling, which poses a clear health and safety hazard.
This issue has persisted for several days without visible action. Continuing to operate under these conditions, while still charging members full fees, is unprofessional and negligent.
Immediate steps must be taken to:
Repair and restore the air conditioning system without delay, or
Suspend or compensate membersâ fees for the period that the air conditioning remains non-functional.
If this situation is not resolved urgently, it will be escalated to Fair Trading, the ACCC, and relevant health and safety authorities, as it violates consumer guarantees and safe facility standards.
Please take this matter seriously and act immediately.

---------------Review-2- reply --------------------
Hi, thanks for the generic response, but nothing has been fixed.
The cable crossover machine is still broken.
The deadlift area is still a serious safety hazard â cracked floor, unstable bars, nothing done.
The water tap is filthy, which is unacceptable in a place where hygiene is critical.
This is not a minor inconvenience â itâs gross negligence. Members are paying for a safe, functioning gym, and instead weâre risking injuries in what looks like an abandoned warehouse. Telling me to âcontact privatelyâ does nothing when these problems have been ignored for weeks and months.
If this continues, Iâll upload photos publicly so others can see the reality of how badly this gym is run.
â 0/5 until management takes real action.
---------------Review-1--------------------
This so-called âgymâ is honestly a disaster from start to finish. The air conditioning never works, so youâre basically training in a sauna. The machines are ancient, constantly broken, and never maintained. Something is always out of order, and the staff couldnât care less. The attendants just stand around doing nothing, even when people are abusing or misusing the equipment.
One male staff member (name Suleiman / the black guy) in particular seriously needs to be removed â he does absolutely nothing, has the worst customer service attitude, and talks to people rudely like weâre bothering him just by showing up. The other staff(lady named maya i guess) is no better, because she spends her time chatting with the male staff, never re-racks dumbbells, and acts as if she owns the gym. The whole weight area looks like a scrapyard, with weights scattered everywhere.
The cable crossover machine? Permanently broken or impossible to use because the cables are too tight. The deadlift section is a safety hazard â the floor is cracked, and the bars literally roll away since they canât stay in place.
To make matters worse, management never listens to complaints or acts swiftly. Problems just drag on for weeks and months with zero improvement.
Nothing in this place is new, clean, or safe. Honestly, this âgymâ is nothing more than a graveyard for old and broken machines, with staff that donât care and a floor thatâs messier than a junkyard.
And if anyone doubts this review â I can show pictures in my next review to prove it.
â 0/5 (wish I could give...
Read moreI embarked on my fitness journey with Crunch back in 2013, and over the past nine years, I've witnessed the ebb and flow of different managements and structural changes within the Bankstown branch. My loyalty to Crunch has been unwavering, maintaining a yearly membership at a cost of $200.
Throughout the years, my interactions with the staff and various managers have been positive, fostering a sense of connection with the club. However, recent developments, particularly my experience in 2022, have left me disheartened, leading to the difficult decision of not renewing my membership.
Despite the evolving nature of membership fees, I had reached an agreement with the manager for a reduced rate, acknowledging my extended loyalty. Regrettably, during my subsequent visit, I faced an unexpected hurdle as entry was denied, with the demand to pay the full amount.
Understanding that retaining the initial rate from years ago is impractical, I had hoped that nearly a decade of dedication and loyalty would warrant some form of considerationâa token of appreciation for a steadfast customer.
In my view, a gym's profitability hinges on its ability to retain loyal patrons. The local pool of potential gym-goers is finite, and sustaining a steady influx is contingent on retaining existing customers. Failing to recognize the value of long-term commitment risks not only disappointing loyal clients but also jeopardizing the club's overall revenue.
As a customer who has witnessed the transformations within Crunch Fitness over the years, it is disheartening to find my loyalty seemingly undervalued in recent interactions. I believe a fair and considerate approach to membership renewals is crucial for both customer satisfaction and the long-term prosperity of the gym.
In conclusion, while my journey with Crunch has been marked by positive experiences, the recent turn of events has prompted me to reconsider my affiliation with the club. I sincerely hope that this feedback is taken into account, and improvements are made to ensure that loyal customers are not only recognized but also rewarded for their enduring commitment to Crunch Fitness.

Read moreThe cleanliness and maintenance are a complete joke. Not only do members not use towels on the machines, leaving them covered in sweat, but the staff do nothing to address this issue. Quite ironic as the motto of the gym is "No towel no workout". As a result, the equipment is constantly in a state of disgust and sweat. Members also intentionally slam the cable machines from peak height with full force, resulting in the machines often being broken.
In addition, the dumbbells are constantly being tossed around carelessly from the benches, resulting in the dumbells bouncing and rolling meters away, creating a dangerous environment for surrounding gym goers and their personal possessions.
Not only are the weights not being re-racked, but dumbells are also being misplaced all over the dumbbell rack or rolled underneath, as members do not bother retrieving dumbells after they have roll underneath from being thrown. It's clear that some members have no common courtesy, or regard for the safety of others.
To make matters worse, 'certain' gym goers congregate in large groups and proceed to yell across the gym to one another in a loud obnoxious manner.
The staff at this gym are a complete joke. Rather than ensuring that the gym is running smoothly and helping out members, they are more interested in socialising with one another, or hidden away in the staff room on their phones. It's no wonder that the gym is constantly in chaos.
To top it all off, the gym is always unbearably hot and humid, making it an unbearable place to workout, especially during the summer.
I have been to a number of gyms in the area, but I have never encountered such a poorly run unsanitary gym where members are disrespectful to the equipment and each other. The low membership fee does not justify joining this gym. You are better off paying more for any other gym for much better amenities, crowd, and basic level...
