My initial review detailed our disturbing phone call with Hotel La Grande Cloche on August 15th, 2025, at 10:46 AM EST, regarding our upcoming reservation (August 19-21). We reached out due to an unforeseen flight cancellation that completely disrupted our trip.

During that call, Valentina, your employee, was explicitly dismissive, laughed at us, refused to give her name, abruptly hung up, and then screened our subsequent calls, forcing us to use my girlfriend's phone just to get her identity. We were also told her manager wouldn't be available until August 20th, during our planned stay.

In response to Hotel La Grande Cloche's public reply claiming 'no evidence of misconduct' and regretting our interaction 'did not meet our expectations': This response is disingenuous. My review is not about your non-refundable policy or the flight cancellation. It is specifically about the unacceptable, unprofessional, and frankly, rude behavior of your staff that day. To deny these specific, factual actions occurred is deeply concerning and appears to be a deliberate misrepresentation.

Furthermore, it is important to note that Hotel La Grande Cloche management then privately offered a 'commercial proposal' directly contingent on this very review being removed. This reveals a clear attempt to suppress truthful feedback rather than genuinely addressing the misconduct of your staff.

This level of customer service is unacceptable. I stand firmly by my original assessment and would not recommend the service from this...

My partner and I stayed for a night here at a rate €110 per night and we were very unsatisfied with our stay

Firstly when we entered the hotel the lobby stank of grease and vinegar since the lobby is connected to the restaurant and there was no where for the smell to air out so it stank. I should mention that the staff (even though we had minimal interaction with them) were nice. One thing that is nice is the hotel is locked off from the restaurant by a security where you need your pass to enter.

Secondly the vibe of the hotel wasn't conventional but we didn't mind but our room wasn't the best. The Air conditioning for the room is locked so basically works as a fan, you CAN NOT make it warmer or colder. Also the bathroom and bedroom are separated by a glass door that doesn't lock so there is no way to lock the door or even have proper privacy. The floors felt unclean and also had gaps between the wooden slits so sometimes my foot got caught in those slits. You would think that you would get a small fridge to keep your drinks cool but you don't. Also I don't go travelling a lot but we had to pay a security deposit but was not told ANYWHERE beforehand that this was something we needed to do. Would have been nice to know

If the rate was lower I think I would have felt a little better but for less you can find...

Booked this as a 3-night break for myself and the wife. Lots of positive reviews and looked just right; a bit quirky, good location, decent price.

The staff were lovely - friendly and very helpful with the check-in and letting us know where to go for food, drinks, sightseeing.

Decor is really interesting and funky, and the room was perfect; we had a cosy room with a view across the plaza. The noise from the street wasn’t disturbing. Bed was comfortable, the room was immaculate, and the bathroom delivered plenty of hot water with nice pressure from the shower.

As a guide, we paid around £50pppn without breakfast. We thought that was extremely good value for a city hotel of this quality.

We didn’t eat or drink at the hotel, as we spent a lot of time sightseeing. Location-wise it was easy to pop back to from the city centre to freshen up and change.

Highly recommend the bar opposite (Ebrius Artis) and it’s easy to get to Mannekin Pis and the central city square.

We arrived via Eurostar so walked the 10 mins from the rail terminal; it’s not the nicest walk, that area is being upgraded so it’s busy and messy, but the hotel I conveniently located for a walk.

If we return to Brussels we’ll stay at this hotel; it offers everything a couple needs, at a reasonable price and located perfectly for sightseeing...

My Perfect Stay at Hotel La Grande Cloche This cozy boutique hotel boasts a perfect location, just a short walk from all the major sightseeing spots and both Bruxelles Central and Zuid Midi stations. I stayed in a shoebox single room. While small, it was more than sufficient. The room was equipped with both AC and heating. The bed and pillow were incredibly supportive, allowing for deep, restful sleep. The room was thoughtfully designed, with a water boiler, drinking water, and coffee capsules all in their right places. I particularly loved the fresh smell of the bedding sheets and the Nuxe brand toiletries provided. The staff were friendly and supportive. The breakfast offered was delightful. Highly recommend Hotel La Grande Cloche to all travelers visiting Bruxelles.
