Le Piranha — Restaurant in Ghent

Keep it simple! That's exactly what they do here. If you are a fan of grilled meat, this is the place to be! Authentically grilled on the fireplace inside, which gives a cozy touch together with the French music. The fact that you can see your dinner getting prepared in the open kitchen next to the fireplace makes it even more special.

Don't expect any sauces or fancy things. Just some fresh pepper and some coarse salt to give your pure piece of meat that extra umpf. Also their grilled potatoes taste amazing with their fresh made herb butter. As a Ghentian, I'm sad to have discovered this hidden gem only now, they will definitely see us back!

Some references say it's overpriced, I'm not sure if those people have ever been in a butcher store... Their prices are for fresh meat grilled on wood... If you do the math they ask reasonable prices...

We went here after reading all the positive reviews. At first glance, it looked promising, as the place looks cosy, nicely warm with an inside fire on which they cook. The experience changed when the food arrived though; the plate looks very simple; just some slabs of not properly cooked meat (Porc chop wasn't cooked through, steak a bit too much), without any spices (giving a pretty bland taste), with some simple accompaniments.

All together, I would say this feels like a cheap average restaurant, to which I wouldn't return because of the less than average food. 3 stars. Reality is this place is actually pretty expensive; for this price one can get really spoiled in Ghentian restaurants. So this explains the 2...

Saw the 4.5 stars review on Google and came here. Very disappointed. Although the staff here are kind people, unfortunately the environment and food was below expectation. The restaurant interior was hot and rather stuffy, and the food was overpriced, bland, and just not very high quality in my opinion. For 90 euros, the experience was not worth it and you will have better...
