It was my favorite Hawaiin Poke Bowl spot in Leuven, which I visit regularly. Today, we went there and, as always, ordered a medium-size and a large-size, make-your-own bowls. After receiving our food, we noticed something was wrong with my friend’s bowl. While she chose Shrimp Chips twice, and they are supposed to provide 5 chips per portion, we only received 5 chips instead of 10. I said it wasn’t a big deal; it was busy, and sometimes the staff gets overwhelmed with many orders and makes minor mistakes.
Then, as I started my food, I felt something was wrong with it too. As a regular customer, I know what to expect. I noticed everything was less than normal: the meat, the salad, and even the rice! After taking one bite and literally one, I thought it would be a good idea to tell the server about my problem so she could resolve it.
We stopped then I called her over and nicely explained what I thought was wrong with the food. She said she would check with her colleagues and get back to me. We sat there, looking at each other, waiting for her to return, which didn’t happen. The server seemed to be avoiding us. I called her again and asked if she had checked with her colleagues. She responded, saying, “We measure everything, so your order is proper.” Hearing that, we decided to leave, as I found their treatment unacceptable.
As we stood up to leave, the server told us they could add the missing items to our food, which I wished had been offered earlier. I told her it was unacceptable and preferred to resolve the issue with someone in charge. As I was leaving, I asked for the manager or shift manager. A young lady with a piercing stepped forward. I explained what happened and said this wasn’t the way to handle a complaint.
She reiterated that they measure everything before serving. I told her that, although I can’t specify the exact amounts, I have common sense from being there many times. I suggested that while I couldn’t verify the weigh, it was clear they missed items, by counting the items measured by quantities. She then offered us some dessert to leave satisfied, which I found to be a ridiculous idea. I told her it didn’t make sense; I wasn’t satisfied with the food. They could have simply said sorry and remade the order, and the problem would be solved!
She said she would ask her manager (didn’t I ask for the manager initially?). I questioned her need to ask for managerial permission for such issues. She left us for a few minutes, then came back and repeated the same statement: “We measure everything, and you are wrong.” She essentially accused me of lying. I explained that this accusation was unacceptable, but she just repeated herself.
She added that they could add the missing items to our food, which was not an option for me since I was being accused of lying. I think by then, our food was likely in the trash. I believed that if we accepted their offer, their next step would be to recover the food from the trash, refusing to acknowledge their mistake under any circumstances.
Of course, I won’t be returning there anytime, but I suggest the owner to teach their stuff how to treat others and appoint a real (shift) manager who has the authority to do more than just repeat the same words ten times.
You can find the photo of our food with this review. It’s exactly the way we left it on the table. You can see the Shrimp Chips are missed, which we ate before taking the photo. Next time, I will take a photo immediately after receiving my order so the so-called manager can recognize...
Read moreI used to be a big fan of this chain but in Leuven and particularly this one I had a bad experience. I tried to make a contact to order knowing that they will close soon. But the staff was just chatting to each other and laughing. Also there were men making enormous voice and shouting. I did not feel safe. Then came the lady and said that we are closing in 5 minutes. Do you want take away? Well yes i had to. Although the portions of take away are much smaller then what you get in a wooden bowl. At least 1/3 will be missing, but you pay as much as for the dine in option.
Very disappointed. In Mechelen it also gotten really bad. I don't go there anymore. The reason is not food but the atmosphere where you can't enjoy your food. I used to go at least once a week with my husband. Priority is given to Deliveroo or Takeaway guys. They take up sits and act like you are using their chair. Plus the noise of music and staff chatting like in a restroom is just crazy. Instead of cleaning tables they stand and argue with each other. Terrible place. I don't go...
Read moreI ordered through Ubereats. I've ordered from them many times in the past (through deliveroo) and I never had any problems. Today I made an order and while the receipt on the bag was correct I got the wrong order. The one I received had different ingredients. I still tried to eat it by removing the things I don't like as I was very hungry. Sadly I also found 2 fish bones (+- 1cm) in the food while eating and I might find more as I've only taken a few bites. This has also never happened to me before. While I usually enjoy their food, I'm apprehensive of ordering again.
I got my money partially back from Ubereats. There is also no fault with...
