he most popular beach on the island and for good reason.

The pier gives it character, but the mountains wrap around it, mostly protect it from monster swells and some of the elements, it's a large beach. Water is clear, but I could really only imagine if it had less traffic. Lets face it tourists are much more messy than surfers.

There are plenty of small waves, but still spots and possibility for large, more dangerous waves. It's popular so you'll rarely be alone here, lifeguards and bathrooms. Shopping, etc. Great place to learn how to surf or paddle board. It's the place locals recommend to keep tourists from invading other beaches.

The angle which the beach faces and the cove/bay like shape along with the pier means you can get some amazing sunset and panorama shots. Wish IG was around back when I travelled more.

It's a safe and friendly place for all to come enjoy. A big island feel with all the wild...

My favorite beach in Kuaui, which is saying a lot because all of them are incredible. Hanalei Bay sets itself aside, though, because it offers a little bit of everything. The sand is fine but there’s also the opportunity to hunt for shells. There’s a public restroom and a small park nearby to play games in. The bay itself if gorgeous and the surroundings are picturesque, but there’s an area of development nearby (but not too close to disrupt the beach experience) where you can shop or grab something to eat. The waves are typically calm enough to be an ideal spot for beginner surfers, but as you go farther out they get more intense. Hanalei also supposedly was part of the inspiration for Puff the Magic Dragon, and you can even see the mist rolling down the surrounding mountains. I love that I got to experience this amazing place, and I hope everyone is fortunate enough to...

The movie South Pacific was filmed at this location. The Hanalei Bay is surrounded by mountains like a half moon. You can take a leisurely stroll along the shore while viewing the majestic mountains and shimmering water falls. Not only is the 360 panoramic view from the pier beautifully captured by the eyes. You can experience the warm water from the end of the pier by jumping into the ocean. Swim to the ladder back up to the platform and jump again. Great exercise walking the beach, jumping from the pier and swimming amidst beautiful surroundings. Relaxation is another way to enjoy the beach reading, eating and meditating. On full moons this beach is enjoyed by couples getting close to each other. An activity that doesn't require swimsuits....

Visited in May 2023 and 2024 with my partner, and loved it, the views are simply breathtaking. Views of cloud covered mountain tops with waterfalls in the background with golden sand looking out to the ocean is something I will never forget. Sea is cam specally summer months, great for kids, Snorkeling and jumping of the peir. You can hire kayaks and other watersports equipment nearby, beach park has plenty parking space and has restrooms. The park is close to town so close to eateries, shops and places to ice cream and shave ice. I highly recommend if your visiting the north shore of kauai you must visit Hanalei Bay. it's a place I would go back to in a heart beat and would never get fed up visiting Steve and Jacqui fae Fife.

This beach is huge. It's part of Hanalei Bay which is a huge bay on the north side of the island. You drive through some neighborhoods to get here and then park on the street in the neighborhood. We were going to spend some time here on our last day, but we changed our mind once we got here. It was incredibly windy and cold. There was also a lot of debris on the beach. I'm sure on a nicer day we might have enjoyed this beach, so definitely check the weather before coming here.
