The Butterfly House in Varna is a wildly unpopular attraction, sadly! The locals couldn't help us find it when we asked for directions. This is due to the fact that there are no road signs for it and it's situated in a private house, so it's quite difficult to find. But if you go to 45ta Str. in St. Constantine & Elena, you will notice it towards the end of the street.
We had a private tour of two lead by the friendly wife of the owner. Her English was good enough to explain. Although it is her husband who is a biologist, we didn't get to meet him. The butterfly tour will surely take more than an hour even if all butterflies are in a single room. They are free and if you are careful enough, you can easily attract some of them on your finger or clothes if you are wearing bright colors. You can take as many pictures as you want. The owner's wife gave us privacy every time we caught a new butterfly. She also told us a bit about every species they have. In the end of her tour, she gave us privacy again to explore on our own. On our way out of the reception room, she offered us some candy. The whole experience is really great even if you are not naturally interested in these animals. We really loved it!
Also, there is a room where children can spend some time playing in case they get bored. The House is accessible by car or taxi. There are some taxis on the same street. Finally, the tickets are very cheap. We definitely recommend this attraction and we hope it will become known to both...

The restrooms are disgusting to be honest, so try to avoid if possible. Tickets are quite expensive for adults for what you get, we could take at least the family offer+1 extra ticket which is a bit cheaper (10€ per adult, 5€ per child, family offer 25€ instead of 30€). The person showing us the animals was constantly typing messages on his cell phone, even during explaining, which was odd to me. There was a big variety of butterflys, you could even watch the ones hedging. Touching is not allowed but there were pieces of oranges where the butterflys would go to, so you could take the orange with the butterfly for a photo. The temperature is rather high and humid so watch out if you have problems with that climate. The butterfly room was nicely decorated especially...
Read moreSuch amazing place, we have visited as a family with 3 children under 5. They all enjoyed the different butterflies and water turtles and the star of the show the chameleon. You can sit a butterfly on your finger if you are into tickling stuff and allow some cacaroaches walk between your fingers. We even were able to feed it and it was walking on us. So fab experience. Our guide was very nice and was patiently answering all the questions from our 5 and 4-year-old daughters. Not skipping on a detail. Just be carefull when walking around all those beautifull butterflies as they look so fragile. Location is a bit hard, but it is so worth the effort, highly recommending this hidden...
