See update below-- Tammy turned this around moving from 1 star to 4, great job!
Terrible customer service. My wife and daughter walked in on a quiet Thursday. No one else was in the store and they got balloons and party decorations. When they went to fill up the balloons the young man on the counter was deeply engrossed with his phone neither acknowledging them or interested in any sort of customer service. After a few repeated attempts to interrupt him he grunted to the manager on duty who could help fill the balloons. She bregrudgedly walked over grabbed the balloons out of her hands and started to fill them up. She stopped at the last one and said that she had to fill another order and the last Ballon had to wait. No one else was at the store, no one was waiting for them. She spontaneously decided that she had another order to fill and refused to do the last one. My wife asked nicely tonseenif she could do the last one before the big order. The employee refused saying it wasn't her problem and they would have to wait at least an hour until the other order was filled. My wife had to then run to pick up my other daughter and drive back to get the one last Ballon (of a set..) When she arrived the employe trew string at her and then walked away.
I get it times are tough these days but this spiteful, vendictive and rude behavior is at a whole new level. This employee needs coaching otherwise you'll loose yet another customer
UPDATE ---- so it's birthday season and no one else inflates balloons so tried my luck with them again.
Tammy was happy to help inflate balloons I bought at another place, gave great advice, helped choose the best arrangement and Totally turned around my impression of party city.
Great job Tammy for turning a TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE into a huge win. The basics of customer service go a long way... she's an example of what we should strive for everyday in...
Read moreOn my son’s birthday, I bought a helium tank, hoping to decorate the house with balloons before he got home from school. As I started inflating the balloons, I noticed strange sounds, and the gas wasn’t coming out properly. Concerned, I put the tank aside, and unfortunately, my son’s birthday decorations were ruined. I remembered the “exchange only” policy when I purchased it, so a few days later, I went back to exchange it. The balloons filled with helium were all falling to the floor, and since I couldn’t go to exchange the tank immediately, I took photos just in case. However, the manager, Tammy, was surprisingly rude and dismissive. She questioned why it didn’t work at home if it worked in-store, which seemed odd to me too.
The reason I brought it back was precisely because it didn’t work at home. I couldn’t understand why it suddenly started working again in the store, but the point was that it failed me when I needed it. Tammy could have simply explained the policy with understanding, and I would have accepted it, even if disappointed. Instead, she left, and then someone named Ryan approached me with the same dismissive attitude, saying they couldn’t exchange it because the tank had been opened. How was I supposed to know it didn’t work without opening it? What’s the point of writing “exchange only” on the receipt if it doesn’t mean anything?
This experience was so frustrating that I would give zero stars if possible. The attitudes of the staff I dealt with were the worst I’ve ever encountered, and thanks to this store, my opinion of Party City is now at an all-time low. I doubt I’ll...
Read moreI'm planning my mom's 70th bday and was doing some comparison shopping. Overall, it's too expensive. The pics were some of the items I'm comparing mixed with hard to find pieces. One of the pics shows disposable helium tanks, which I'm surprised and how few balloons they fill. The store doesn't do tank rentals and an individual 9" balloon is 1.99 to fill. 2 bucks to make a balloon float! No thanks. What the store is good for is specialty items and themes. While their intent would be to make this a one stop, party planning, shop, I'd rather stock up on basics at Dollarama, Dollar Tree and on apps like Wish. I've also never seen the store in a state of completion. I don't know if it's my timing but everytime I'm there the seasonal section, which is the first aisle and impression you see is half stocked with a lot of bare shelves. It is an American Chain brand new to Canada but it reminds me of Targets failures in Canada where half empty shelves meant completely empty stores because customers...
