Howe Sound Taphouse & Kitchen - New West — Restaurant in British Columbia

Sorry ...but NOPE ..wanted to see how it would be after the change . Went in with my girlfriend and ordered 1 cheeseburgar and beer....she ordered something and a pop...it was over $50 ... I get pubs can be $ ...but this is part of a larger problem and why these kinda places are full of people who are 50 + and why you dont even see many or anyone sometimes my age at 42 going anymore ....Metro Van has high cost for rents....groceries and countless employers paying lower end wages ...People have less money to go blow at a pub ....regardless went ...and was served by this older server .....she seemed rather more like a cranky mom type ...asked if I put money in the juke box if it would be louder than the radio....she said yes... well it wasnt ....so $5 wasted down the drain ..... the fries were small amount and I still gave a $5 tip and she said a " thanks " in a kinds snarky way and walked off ..... zero fun vibe at this pub to be found .....sorry.....but this is why younger servers are better for this kinda environment as they make convo....flirt a tad ish....and keep the music vol up ....if I wanted to drink at a legion ..I would do so. Places like this you have a meal and 2 beers tops a go......it kinda dull....was better before . This is why a few pubs have gone belly up......New West needs night clubs ...a stripclub (with booze ) and more...

Great staff always friendly but not as talkative at times. Seems like the positive energy shifts up and down from the staff most likely from management issues. I have waited for my bill more than one time. Top notch food though a little to pricey. Best craft beer taphouse in town. Howesound beer is exceptional. Probably my favourite craft beer out there. Lots of tv screens for your sports games. People who are regulars are nice folks besides the rude few that show up time to time regulars from the Hops bar at the New Westminster station. It's a positive place mostly really old awesome bar and very old building. Really cool. The best older building that houses a taphouse neighbourhood pub in town. Probably one of the best in the lower mainland and Vancouver. Everytime I walk in the place I have a good feeling im glad they got rid of the older women manager she was not right for the place a very negative person. That pub could be the best place around if they make some changes have live music and parties for the bigger sports events they have room they have the beer, the nostalgia. This was the worst service I have ever had in my life! Went with a few friends after a comedy show. My husband went to use the washroom, and someone had thrown up all over. He let this server know, and she rolled her eyes and said, "Okay, and?" He said "well someone should clean it up because it's disgusting, and people are paying to eat here." She then replied with,"I don't have time to deal with that." About 20 minutes later, we asked if anyone had cleaned it up yet (people needed to use the washroom), and she was very snippy and rude and said,"Ugh! I already know. I'll get the kitchen staff to clean it then." She was so inconvenienced to have to serve our table. My friend had a bug in her drink, and this server couldn't care less. We were two tables of five, and she added the gratuity to all of our bills. I work in a service industry and have never in my life not tipped a server, but after the rude, snide comments and dirty looks we got while ordering our drinks I never would have tipped her five percent let alone eighteen. She made us feel so unwelcome. We will NEVER be going back, and I will be telling every person I come in contact with to stay FAR away from this...
