SilverCity Newmarket Cinemas and XSCAPE Entertainment Centre — Attraction in East Gwillimbury

Would not recommend the arcade there, and in my opinion a scam. I have had two instances now where my tickets and game credits went missing on my Xscape card. Once around Oct/Nov 2024 and again this month, that's twice in less than a year. The first time it happened I lost a couple thousand tickets, this month I lost about 14,000 tickets and credits (ie. actual money that's gone, not just the points). Upon complaining to two managers they somehow managed to restore the tickets on one of my cards but I was out of luck for my other card. Basically you will never be able to accumulate enough points for the larger prizes because your tickets will magically erase and there's nothing you can do about it because they keep all the records and you can't prove anything. We spent quite a lot of money and time playing with our kids there because we were trying to redeem something sizable so that we can work towards something as a family, and have something to remember the good times we had together. Now I have to explain to her that putting in time and effort into something will not yield a return sometimes, and sometimes you get taken advantage of and that's just how life goes. She needs to learn that life lesson at some point, may as well be now. We should've known better than to spend so much money on an arcade. Oh well, at least we had fun in the process. Go to Dave & Busters or Rec Room if you're serious about redeeming prizes. The other reviews are right btw, machines are...

Scene Card wouldnt scan on the automated machine. Asked for help at the front cash and was told "not open". Tried and failed again. Asked for help the second time and was told "we normally dont do this, but I'll help you this one time". O.k. well thanks for taking the time out of your busy day to assist me, a paying customer. Sorry for asking and disturbing you! Meanwhile, not just me, but other people as well also had difficulty using the self scan and began to line-up right behind me. I had pre-bought my tickets at Costco and for the second straight time (movie)had difficulty using the automated machines. Completely frustrating experience. Line up for concessions was brutally slow as well. Check the camera's, there were two people (groups) in front of me and I must have been in line for close to 25 minutes. Missed the beginning of the movie with my daughter. (Thanks Cineplex!) Time was 4:10 when we lined up at or around there. I was in line with my daughter. Line closest to the Cinema 8 entrance. Didnt get our seats until 4:35. Poor kid had behind the counter had zero support helping him and couldnt remember what the previous orders were. I dont expect 5 star service from a 15 year old, but I do expect "Management" to notice and step in to help. Non-existent! The movie was great "A Wrinkle in Time". My husband and I recently watches a movie here, that started at 10:40 pm. I want to start ny saying, that this is an expensive place to venture. The money, however was not the issue, but the staff and service is pathetic. First of all, ansolutely nothing should close in the building before the last movie ends! We purchased drinks ans popcorn before entering the movie and when my husband went to get a refill, he was stopped by a staff memeber and he was told "ansolutely no refills" he then offered to pay for another drink and was refused, because everything was closed (the movie was only half way through). When we got there, we paid for a game card, to play games before the movie started and they closed the area that you can redeem your tokens for prizes. If you arent going to provide the same service at the late movies, that you do earlier on, then the ticket amount should be reduced. We paid over $20.00 for 2 pop and one bag of popcorn, I think its absolutely ridiculous that you cant get a free refill. Another thing...if you dont want people refilling their cups for free, then maybe the machines that stand freely and unattended (except for during the late movies, when staff memebers have nothing better to do) should be considered. We spend plenty of money here with our kids. Probably wont be returning...
