Title: Where Grandma's Porcelain Cat Meets Construction Lumber I came in looking for a quirky mug and maybe a VHS copy of Twister, but I left deeply confused... and slightly impressed. Among the usual racks of 90s fashion comebacks and orphaned fondue sets, I found actual 2x4 lumber off-cuts for sale. For $3 to $4 each. Yes, at Value Village. Did a contractor lose a bet? Is someone’s DIY project secretly being crowdsourced through thrift store shoppers? I have questions, but no answers. On the plus side, if you ever want to build a birdhouse and get a retro windbreaker in the same trip—this is your spot. Would’ve given 5 stars if the wood came with a free hammer or at least a motivational quote from Bob the Builder.

I saw a bedbug here and I am aware this is a thrift store. However, there should be a better process to vet the items better. They are constantly putting new things out. Its no wonder there's a bed bug. I wonder where the rest of them are hiding. Probably with the poor employees who have to deal with the contaminated items now.

The return policy is not fair. People should have this right to take the items back to the store on the condition that the items were not suitable. I hope there will be a few pragmatic solutions in the near future. However, the boots I bought are nice and practical with reasonable price.

I go in to value village and other thrift stores very frequently at least 4 times a week value village has become Insanely over priced. For example I went in today and they had a stack of comic books, nothing special 50 cents to a dollar a piece at most in any comic book shop but at value village there $7.99 each. That’s 8x the price, That is unacceptable they have things in the show case for hundreds of dollars a few weeks ago they had a necklace for almost $1000, visibly Brocken cameras and outdated tablets for 100 plus dollars. The clothing section is a joke, junkey no name clothing for more then they cost brand new. Mens floral shirts for no less then $11.99. Iv seen single picture frames for as high as $34.99. Very very Used beat up shoes for up to $49.99. Value village takes part in some of the worst corporate greed iv have ever seen in my life. They scrapped the reward program that gave you a decent discount from time to time for a system that rewards you with a single dollar for every $100 spent, what’s the point the prices are so hight that $1saving means nothing. The management and pricing team are certifiably insane. This review is less so about the Newmarket location and more so about value village as a whole each value village in the surrounding area are all guilty of everything mentioned above. It’s greedy, slimy, unethical and predatory by nature. Some people need thrift stores and value village prices out a lot of people and it’s wrong. I am a extremely avid thrifter trust me when I say do not donate to value village and keep shopping there to a minimum, go to a real thrift store like Salvation Army or mission thrift or if your in the areas of Mississauga or Woodstock where there are still...

A year ago, this was my absolute favourite vv - I've always found great finds here and even authentic designer pieces from Prada/Burberry/Dior/Ferragamo! It's also very organized and clean, and I've always had very kind staff check me out every time.

However... every time I've been in here recently, I've been extremely disappointed by the rise in prices. I know 'thrifting' has become a trend especially on social media, and VV seems to be riding the wave by doubling, even tripling their pricing!

VV seems to be crazy inflated on tommy hilfiger, zara (nobody is paying $15+ for USED Zara btw) and brands they think are still popular. I saw a lululemon bra new with tags, and the sale tag said $34.99 and VV was selling it for $35.... also you can go to the shoe section and see ratty used ritz carlton slippers (that are free with a stay...) are selling for $10 - LOL

For a place that receives all of their items FOR FREE, the prices do not make sense at all. Go to an independent thrift store or a smaller chain, and you'll find way better prices. With inflation in Ontario the way it is, people who actually depend on thrift stores to survive simply cannot afford to. When it is cheaper to shop at places like urban planet/shein, fast fashion will always prevail because why would someone choose to buy used clothing for MORE than a new piece (whether it be sustainable or not).. also for these prices, the free donated pieces will not end up selling and as more pieces come in, where do you think those overpriced pieces will go to? Exactly the place where we were trying to avoid by donating in the...

There today. Horrible staff. Rude. I never say this, but they were. 3 of them. From entering the store person. I walked on the wrong side of that sort of hanging piece of rope thingy. No one else was there. I didn't realize to go to the right side. My fault, but walking with a cane, in pain, wasn't focused. But still no need to be so rude to me. Than my daughter was trying on a jacket. Another staff comes over, rudely, telling her not to be trying it on. Well, we had no clue. But rude again. So my daughter took it off and was putting back on her own jacket. And another staff comes around the corner very rudely, saying you were told no trying anything on. But in a nasty tone. I go excuse me, but it's her own jacket. We were just told. As she was with the other staff person so she knew and heard it. As it was only, seriously, one minute we were just told. Horrible service, horrible staff today. They shouldn't be working there, at all. Yes, things are different now, but no need to take it out on your customers. We're keeping your store in business. And we had no idea how it works there now. Be nice about it and simply explain it. As we haven't been there in ages. And yes you have to repeat and repeat, that's just how it is. Your in customer service after all. I've worked with the public, i one way or another, my whole life. Never have I acted the way you's did today. As it is a big part of our job, and one of the main thing, being working on customer service. Not going back. Very disappointed and it wasn't pleasant being talked...
