I was here only once with my friend, and our first impressions were being astounded by how much there is ranging from old dishes to military teams and much more. There are many rows that lead up and down so do not be fooled by the smaller appearance from the outside. While I did not purchase anything, my friend did and bought two globes, one regular one and one metal one as he collects them and found them at very fair prices. However I was noticing that all the prices were either reasonable or too high. My example of an item being too much is a gas mask that was priced too high, (I collect gas masks and have a reasonable background information on them) and found one that was labeled as "Spanish Gas Mask" for $180 that included a filter and metal carrying case. The Mask itself was a Belgian surplus mask that averages around $30-$40, the filter was a Russian standard filter that can be bought for around $10 and the metal carry case I believe was a German reproduction (as it was newly painted) that go on ebay for $50 $125. Altogether it would have not been worth the prices but there is much more reasonable priced military items in a separate display case. I would still advise doing some deeper reach before buying anything. Nevertheless this is an amazing place to visit if you are searching for any old things. I know for sure, that I will be returning when my friend and I have another...
Read moreGreat place. Others have already talked about the stuff, the antiques and such so instead I will mention the BOOKS.
The greatest tiny bookstore in Edmonton is in this building.
Omg, B90 is basically a tiny used books store akin to Wee Book Inn, Alhambra or the Edmonton Book Store, but in the smallest space possible. You gotta squeeze if you want to find a novel. The selection here is amazing. Not picked over at all. An untouched treasure trove of good books from Agatha Christie, Wilkie Collins, Virgina Woolf, Jules Vern; a massive selection of military history, bibles and biblical commentary, sciences, classics such as Ovid, Julia Child's cookbooks, and a small but decent selection of philosophy where I found a rare book of McLuhan's and William James. There's tons of stuff here that if it were at any other place would be gone in days.
Make this a stop if you're looking for used books. I bet you'll...
Read moreFirst time going here. I'm completely in love with the amount of stuff in here. While old Strathcona Antique Mall is more general for everyone, I think you can find some really impressive unique pieces here at this antique mall.
The layout is more interesting I feel with the amount of items. There's some defined sections..like books, furniture, signage and oil cans but then there's tons of unique items laced between. You are more likely here to find older pieces from 1900-1800 then the other places around edmonton. There is a lot of unique pieces of European furniture. Lots of pieces ripe for that trending farmhouse look as well.
There is less jewellery and toys compared to other places. There's more taxidermy and plate wear. The staff is friendly. They do offer deliveries.. As long as it fits on the van lol.
Well...
