I was shopping at the Ottawa St. store today around 1pm. When I got in line at the cash to pay I observed a woman being served who was wearing a face shield, not the standard mask that Fabricland requires all patrons and staff to wear. The cashier serving her said nothing to her about not wearing the proper mask, and in fact had a relaxed and friendly discussion with her about the customer’s home décor. At one point the customer showed the cashier pictures on her cell phone. The customer was in no way intimidating or hostile, so I wondered why the staff said nothing to her about wearing a shield. When it was my turn to be served I asked the cashier when they changed their policy about masks and she said they hadn’t, you still can’t wear a shield. When I asked why the previous customer had a shield on she flippantly replied that she “must have just snuck in”. Seriously??? So if she had “snuck in” she could have said something to her when she was checking her out at the cash register but she let her leave without saying a word. Who knows how long this woman walked around the store in the shield before coming to the cash??? The store was quite busy and I can only guess how many customers were exposed to this person. I am appalled that with all that MOST of us are doing to beat this virus this location would be so careless in allowing an unmasked person inside, and in a shield that barely covered the bottom of her chin to make matters worse. We were asked to reach out to customer service which we did and haven't heard anything back so they must not be taking this...

I was told today when I went to return some fabric “That’s not my problem” (complete with a smirk). I guess employee 1 thought she was being clever?
I was then told by another employee (#2) that they don’t do returns on fabric. I pointed out that the bill says otherwise, and was immediately told by a third employee that “only pre-done / pre-packaged items are refundable”.
They argued the fact that the fabric was measured. I pointed out it was the end of the roll, and not measured to cut. It wasn’t altered in any way. (Isn’t all fabric measured?)
2nd employee said to refund it “this time”. Well don’t worry, there’s plenty of other fabric places along Ottawa St N to visit, and while they may not refund either, at least they won’t give me attitude like the first girl did today.
2 stars because they did refund, but seriously, make better notices on your invoices / receipts. Just say “NO REFUNDS on opened fabric”.
Simple solution, then I wouldn’t of bought the stuff I did yesterday in the first place since it was the wrong size. (Girl it would be about an inch short, it was 4 inches short, hence the entire reason for...
Read moreI’ve never had such terrible service. I’m 22 never really been in a fabric store before and wanted to make my own dress for New Years. The lady with short brown hair at the cutting table was absolutely horrid and I’ll never go back due to her behaviour towards me. Giving me additude , snarky with me for no reason and treating me with no respect. When I came for some help she shook her head no at me so she could continue to gossip with the other girl. No one else was available to help. I left quite upset. That women shouldn’t ever work customer service again. Words can’t even describe how rude she was. I understand that everyone has bad days but I think she was just born like that. She had such hatred for the store and everyone in there. So Fabric Land you have lost many customers now due to this. My whole family use to shop there and now none of them will. Not only me but the people I was with were absolutely disgusted by this lady. Shame on you! Also reading comments clearly this has happened to others and you still allow that women to work in your store. I hope...
