Came across this place while walking down Ottawa street, I was looking to grab a quick sandwich. The women that worked there were so incredibly rude to my friends and I with our kids. They acted like we were the biggest inconvenience to them. I was actually appalled by the service. I try to always give people the benefit of the doubt and I understand that working in the service industry can be challenging but this was exceptionally disappointing. There is no reason to give the kind of attitude we received when we were all trying our absolute best to be polite to the staff. If you don’t want kids in your establishment then put up a sign but otherwise kids and their moms are going to come to your cafe. I hope no one else has to be treated this way. Also my chicken sandwich wasn’t great and the chicken was bloody (see pic attached).

We had heard that the Simply Italian Bakery was selling pizzas, so obviously we had to check them out. The pizzas are wood oven cooked, they came out cooked perfectly. The cheese and toppings were great, high quality ingredients used. The sauce was nice, simple and fresh. The crust was nice and airy and still had a nice chew to it. Overall a great pizza, and friendly staff. They had many other sweet treats, pastries and sandwiches available as well. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely will be back to try some of their other item. Highly recommend you try out Simply Italian Bakery if you’re in the area.

We have been frequent customers of SIB since it opened in our neighbourhood a few years ago. Suffice it to say, we have never been disappointed! We absolutely love their sandwiches, pizzas, and desserts. I ordered my sons 2nd birthday cake a couple of days ago, and the baker did a wonderful job replicating the image of what we wanted. Our guests were blown away by how delicious it was! The macarons on top were to die for!!! They were soft and fresh, with just a hint of salt, a perfect complement to the sweetness of the cake and icing. If you haven’t tried them yet, I highly recommend that you do!!

(NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY & MEDIOCRE) The 2 older women gave immediate attitude to me and the 2 other moms with me when we arrived. Our babies (all under the ages of 2) were perfectly behaved but had pushed a button on the drinks refrigerator without us noticing. The two ladies made a huge deal about it and frantically told us that they don’t know how to work the refrigerator temperature and that our babies just ruined the temp . .. which makes absolutely no sense. We all apologized for this odd interaction and continued to order. I ordered the Caprese sandwich. The bread was so incredibly stale that my teeth had to tear at the bread like it was 10 year old jerky. No flavour at all. There were 3 pieces of micro sized cheese and tomato. Then the ladies proceeded to give us more attitude by calling out the wrong names (calling us Joe lol ) for the orders and stated “sorry you all look the same and your everywhere”. Throws my pregnant friends sandwich on the counter and walks away rolling her eyes. None of our names are remotely close to Joe lol. She then flailed her arms in the air and started mouthing off to her co-worker about us , RIGHT in front of us. We are all young mothers with young babies and felt very uncomfortable and unwanted. I hated the lack of empathy & warmth this place had. I won’t be going back and I don’t suggest anyone goes unless you’re childless and your...

I came by here yesterday with my partner because frankly I was craving a cinnamon bun. While there were no cinnamon buns, we were pleasantly overwhelmed with options. Everything looked great! We wound up getting an almond espresso chocolate cookie, a lemon tart, and a slice of day old pizza (which reheated amazingly!). The espresso chocolate cookie had a very nice mild chocolate flavour, and the coffee bean on top added a very nice crunch. The meringue on the lemon tart was great, it was the right amount of sweet and thick. I wish the lemon flavour was a little bit more pronounced, but I think that's the only complaint I can even make. The slice reheated nicely in the oven, and tasted very nicely of basil and fresh tomato. The woman behind the front cash was very excited to explain the layout of the store, and her enthusiasm was very nice! I'm excited to go again sometime soon, and try their caramel lobster tail pastry and probably a sandwich, or pick up one of...

To be honest we have tried this place a few times now and the first time everything was awesome but subsequently, it's hit and miss.

We pop in for desserts and apart from the cherry cheese cake (probably their most popular) the other stuff is always stale.

You guys got a great product so if you read this guys, please don't sabotage yourselves...look into this!

Maybe reduce the batches, more frequent rotations on products for ensuring fresh products, and for heaven's sake-FIFO - and throw out the old stuff!...not fair for us to pay for old, stale food. You are building a reputation so play the long game.

I want to continue to support my local business, in fact had to go elsewhere with a catering event because I couldn't trust the inconsistency. After all, to get home to enjoy something after spending hard earned money and have to throw it out does not sit well with us.

Hoping to give you one last try some day...
