Party City — Attraction in Jasper Place

I usually have an okay experience at this store (not overly helpful or memorable customer service, but usually fine). This evening however I was really disappointed with the service received. Having worked in high volume holiday retail, I can appreciate that the Halloween season is likely bonkers, and that the night before Halloween might feel especially exhausting, but I as a customer do not need to be informed of what a terrible time you are having. I should not detect your misery whatsoever as I happily prep for my most favourite night of the year, at PARTY CITY of all places. This evening I left flabbergasted after your cashier tossed and slammed my items carelessly about while scanning them, informing me verbally how “Over It” they were (advising they’ve been working since Friday). If this is a burnout problem…managers need to take note and look at scheduling. If this is a regular attitude problem…evaluate your staff and recruit some Build-a-Bear people because Party City should be a place centred around fun and joy. I came in excited, and left miserable and angry about my encounter at cash. Not a scrap of customer service to be seen as the cashier threw up all their misery onto me, delivering a hostile and wildly inappropriate experience. To add insult to injury, not even a bag offered for my pile of items…and then the cashier just stood there and watched me carefully try to retrieve each thing item by item and struggle to carry it out. The customer service I received from one lady was great, the other woman not at all. She was rude, rang my order in wrong, over charged me and made me feel like a hassle for asking for clarification on pricing. Overall their Balloon selection was good but WAY over priced. The pricing is also misleading. It said pre packaged balloons 2.49 for helium on the sign for 9 to 12 inch balloons. At the till I was charged that price for each individual Balloon. So on top of paying for the package I paid for the helium additionally. Alternately there are other stores that sell balloons and helium at much much lower costs and I regret choosing party city instead. I paid 60$ for one large foil balloon, one of the smallest foil balloon, 6 subpar looking confetti balloons that did not represent what was on the package and 6 other basic latex balloons. Oh I also had to pay $1 for a balloon bag to make sure they...

Terrible customer service. Just ordered a few balloons and came into the store a couple after after to check if it was ready as I was in the area. Stood in line, clearly I’m the front and an older male clerks come and asks who was in line first so I said I am. I proceeded to tell him about my order. He had a tone to him and patronizing said if you didn’t get the email then it’s not ready. I said I’m just checking - can you check your system. He checks his systems and proceeds to tell me he just got the order. I asked if there was a possibly of it being ready for the same day - he said I cant tell you that. The whole experience was so rude. I hate pulling the race card - I am of color and the clerk proceeded to be super nice to all the customers that where Caucasian behind me.
