Here I am, I find myself writing about olive garden in the hours past my delightful meal.
As any novice google reviewer should, I packed my journal, and unironically began writing and doodling various words and images to draw creativity the second after we were seated. My girlfriend sat next to me, scrolling tik-tok as I found peace and tranquillity in the soft faux leather booth placed in the corner of this particular olive garden.
This being my first experience at olive garden, I had little to no expectations, other than being informed by my girlfriend of the various offerings that solidfied olive gardens place in the sub-prime dining experience. I had heard from other colleagues that the breadsticks are "endless" and that they were "to die for".
I didn't let any of these preconceived thoughts effect me though. Could it be compared to the endless ribs found at Montana's? Or potentially the infamous crab legs at Red Lobster. At this stage I didn't know what I was in for. But I knew for certain that I was definitely not ready for what was coming....
As we settled in I took great comfort in eavesdropping on some of the surrounding tables and family's, the familiar conversations eased the anxiety I had towards this new found dining experience. I certainly appreciate the staff and ambiance to which they created in this establishment. Such beautiful artwork, designer lighting, and all paired with sounds from the likes of Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and various other musicians from yester-year, creates a confusing combination of affordable eating and theatrical Italian showmanship.
Soon after, our platter of endless breadsticks, and bowls of everlasting soup arrived. I was impressed with the soup, carrots, chicken, and spinach, all paired for a creamy rich flavor, and excellent texture. The breadsticks are very much delicious, especially when paired with Alfredo. And lastly, my Fettuccini alfredo, an interesting take on a simple classic. This example featured well cooked noodles and a cream sauce which was very much on the blander side of things. I did not enjoy the fettuccine Alfredo, however my date assured me that "it usually tastes a lot different/better". I was content, based on the price point.
In conclusion, olive garden is a confusing place, which ultimately, like Red Lobster, and Montana's, remind me of the United States. A place that loves to take international cultures, double the sugar, double the portions, and leave you wondering why your stomach hurts hours later.
I must say though, our waiter Quinn was absolutely fantastic. I was greatly pleased by his service.
Although I will likely never return to the establishment, I can appreciate the interest, and the likes of the people that enjoy this place. The value for the cost is very high, and overall its a clean, and somewhat quiet place to dine, that certainly provides fast and high quality service at a fraction...
Read moreMy family had a group reservation for 11 people August 16th, for my grandmothers 85th birthday. The manager came over when we arrived, I believe it was Bailey.
I am absolutely appalled at the service and handling of our table tonight. I normally don’t care enough to complain but tonight was next level awful. It started with the servers not understanding how to split the bills, then not understanding what I was asking for to drink and missing a drink. After drinks were delivered, we were never asked again about a top up.
Skip forward 20 minutes, the salads were delivered without any plates. Another 10 minutes past and finally plates were delivered, they said they would come back with bread sticks that took another 10 minutes and we only got 2 baskets and never got offered any additional ones. When I did eat my salad I had multiple hairs in my food.
My toddler was handed a plate over the table. I went to grab her meal and burnt my hand on a scalding hot plate. A kids meal should not be served on a plate that can burn an adult.
Other meals were incorrect and no apologies were ever made, but treated as an inconvenience. Finally with all the food arrived we ate mediocre quality food and not at all what I have come to expect from Olive Garden.
After we finished eating, we waited 30 minutes for the cake that we brought in, only the servers couldn’t find it. When they finally did, they brought it out in the box and offered us no assistance to take it out, out the candles on or anything. In the past this has never an issue.
Then when I just wanted to leave, our servers were no where to be found, we had not been given our bills nor had anyone checked on us. I had to go find our server and tell him we needed the bill. To top it off we were told when we made the reservation we needed to be out by 7 and it was now 7:10. Then the server says he was printing them only to go and deal with two other tables wanting to pay before coming and saying anything to us.
Overall this was probably the worst dining experience I have ever had. Totally unacceptable, and for a manager to come say “let me know if you need anything” only to disappear when I did need something and wanted to bring this up while...
Read moreWent there June 22 @ 1:30. There were 7 of us. I asked if they offered a seniors discount and the guy standing behind the till said no. No offer of anything extra just no. Are we doing him a favor by patronizing this restaurant? I think so. So I think that he should show some appreciation for our business. Due to this flippant attitude there are a lot of other places we will choose from next time. We ordered a lot of very costly drinks and the waitress spilled a container of wine all over the table and it ran all over dripping on my wife’s clothes. It was an accident and we did not blame her but we thought we would be given some consideration for compensation on the bill for that. We received nothing not even a free desert for my wife. I ordered the chicken parmasian. The small amount of spaghetti was sparsely covered in sauce and the chicken was very dry and over cooked. I didn’t finish it and took it home thinking I would try it again later but it was so terrible that I just threw it out. This was $28.00 plus tax and certainly not anywhere near worth it. Don’t they check their food with a thermometer before serving it? Again no offers to compensate for that dismal offering. We spent well over $375.00 and we will never ever return. All they had to do was offer a seniors discount and a bit of compensation for the spilt wine on my wife’s clothes and not over cook the food but due to none of that we aren’t going to spend a dime there ever again. Restaurants these days are crying for customers and tipping is getting out of hand with expectations of 30%. It’s ridiculous and this experience was an example of a high priced disaster. Now is the time for restaurants to treat their customers right because things are soon going to get a lot more tougher out there and again restaurants are going to cry out for customers. If all Olive Garden cares about is how much money they can extract from each customer well they won’t be getting...
