✝️ Saint Patrick's Basilica was built in 1847. Located in the heart of downtown Montreal. The interiors were absolutely stunning. The ambiance exudes a sense of tranquility, providing a truly calming experience.
I highly recommend a visit to this Basilica. Whether you are looking for spiritual renewal, cultural enrichment, or simply a peaceful sanctuary, this Basilica is sure to leave a lasting impression. It is absolutely breathtaking. So much detail in the architectural part of it. I honestly loved just sitting there and appreciating everything. There are also candles to light at different sections of the church. I personally love the purple candles.
Entry is free and they are so welcoming. It’s usually quiet and serene.
BASILICA

Beginning with our deep roots in the Irish diaspora we have developed into a diverse and dynamic group from many backgrounds joining together as parishioners of the Mother Church of Montreal’s English Speaking Catholics. Msgr. Francis J. Coyle, pastor, and Fr. Robert Pierre-Louis, Assistant Priest, lead and guide our downtown congregation.
Saint Patrick’s Church opened its doors on March 17th, 1847 to serve the needs of the growing Irish community in Montreal and just in time for the wave of Irish immigrants escaping famine and other...

It was constructed between 1843-47 to accommodate the vastly growing number of Irish immigrants in need of a place of worship. It was declared a minor basilica by Pope John II in 1989 and is known for St. Patricks Chimes (10 bells).
The church was designed by P.L. Morin and Father Felix Martin and is one of Canada's finest examples of French Gothic Revival style of architecture, highlighted by its impressive facade, 69 metre tall tower and spire and rose window. The interior is ornately decorated with murals, altar screens, fleur-de-lis and shamrock motifs and stained glass window panes. Well worth entering for a brief walk around if you enjoy seeing old Catholic churches during...
