Listen, I am a huge hypocrite because I stalk reviews so hard to make sure I am getting the best for my money, and yet I never leave any. This will be my first ever review in my entire life, and it goes to Teresa. This is going to be a long review, I hope it helps somebody.
I have extremely coarse, frizzy, unruly, monstrous curly/wavy hair. I go through phases of loving it enough to grow it long and being so angry to tears and hating my life enough to chop it all off (and go through with it). Teresa is literally the best hairdresser to ever touch my head. I would recommend her to anyone who would listen.
The anxiety I get when going to a new hairdresser is insane. You don’t know how many comments I have gotten from hairdressers saying that my hair was too unmanageable for them, or didn’t know how to cut curly or wavy coarse hair like mine. If I don’t do my research, I leave the salon with a nightmare and then have to live with it.
I came to Teresa’s salon after doing a lot of research. I booked a nanoplastia treatment and cut. I wanted to be finally free of the hurting arms and hours I spend styling my hair only to worry about the rain, snow, or humidity ruining it within minutes. It delivered IMMENSELY, and without the harsh fumes and side effects produced from your regular keratin treatment. And it even is good for your hair.
My hair is literally unrecognizable, and it looks like this STRAIGHT OUT OF THE SHOWER with nothing at all, and lasts for 7 months with good care. AND I don’t need to worry about it growing out curly on top and straight on the bottom - it will fade naturally according to her.
More reasons to visit Teresa:
She is so incredibly knowledgeable. I do A LOT of research on hair and beauty since it’s a hobby of mine. But I learned so much during my first visit. Her recommendations will never steer you wrong. She was able to thoroughly explained what went wrong with my last cut (everything), and was so detail oriented that as a tall girl she had me stand to finish my cut (because that’s what most people will see!) With her, you will always hear the “why”. The salon is your space for your appt (no bookings with other clients!!!) and she goes out of her way to make you comfortable. I wanted to read a book, so she brought me my beverage of choice and made the space and music comfortable enough to read in. She offered me wifi should I need it, and because we have the same taste in books we even read together! And due to the full attention, your hair won’t overprocess (she is aware that the layers of hair she treats first are already processing as she does the rest of your head, and times accordingly) She is so passionate and cares deeply about her clients. You get a feeling that she cares so much about your happiness and the inner transformation you go through when you get new beautiful hair. When I came back to the salon to wash out the treatment later that week, she remembered everything we had talked about on my last visit and asked for updates - that is a huge first for me especially since she has so many clients and busy days. She really listened and heard me. And who wouldn’t want their hairdresser to be a gem of a human being! Teresa is so conscious of people’s budgets, and only recommends what she truly believes will work and what people can afford. Even then, there is no pressure sale here all - I didn’t feel any. She even insisted that I don’t tip her during my second visit where we washed out the treatment (which I did anyway) since it was included in my first visit. And, she adjusted the price of her treatment to accommodate my shorter hair length.
I have much more to rave about Teresa, but I’ll end it here. The pictures speak more than anything (my before pics are what my hair usually looks like after a wash with only a rough blow dry). Please visit her, you will not regret it. I will be moving home soon, but I will literally fly out to see her and have her do my hair. That’s how much I...
Read moreTeresa is INCREDIBLE. I read the reviews, expected something great, but I was astounded. Not only is Teresa extremely kind, warm, and welcoming -- she also knows EXACTLY what she is doing. I have never met a hairdresser who has such a breadth of expertise -- she can do anything, and cut any type of hair VERY well. I have curly hair, and she gave me the best haircut that I have ever had. She is not intimidated by hair types. She taught me ways of taking care of my hair that I had never known about. Unlike other salons, Teresa will recommend products, but she says to buy them from Amazon. She is not pushing products down your throat in hope for a commission -- instead, she genuinely wants the best for you, and will give you her advice on the least expensive but best quality products on the market, depending on your exact hair type. She gave me a long consultation at the beginning, to make sure that we were on the same page. It was awesome. Then, she did a wonderful job cutting my hair (she does it FAST). Finally, she gave me an AMAZING blowout. Normally, with my curly hair, a blowout lasts for two days. This one lasted for, I kid you not, EIGHT DAYS. Eight. And it always looked fantastic. By the end of the haircut, we became friends, hugged it out, and I have since been recommending her to all of my friends. Teresa is from Cuba, so we spoke Spanish for the entirety of the cut. Her English is also perfect. Teresa runs her salon by herself, so there is only one client who goes at a time -- enabling an intimate and comfortable experience. I highly, highly recommend Vida Salon -- you will not be...
Read moreAn awful experience overall. I hope that mine was an exception, given that I chose this place based on its reviews.
I arrived on time and was told that my hairdresser, Teresa, should arrive soon. I wasn't given and ETA or offered water, coffee, etc.
Teresa showed up late, letting me know that her morning workout took her longer than she expected, which is why she was late. Really?
She asked me what I wanted from my cut and I said that I would like to have my split ends trimmed, but not shorter than keeping my hair in a high ponytail. I expressed an interest to other ideas in the front. Teresa showed me some super short styles that she liked. I said no to anything other that trimming the back of my hair to trip split ends. Teresa cut the longest hairs to the back of the top of the nape of my neck and layered it toward the top of my scalp. The sides are random. The outcome is awful.
Teresa apologized. I paid for the cut, thinking that it might not be as bad as it looked when I left. It's worse than I thought and sadly the most common comment that I've received is: "at least...
