Apparently you need to know sign language to be at the spa. My friend and I came to this location for the first time 04/26/2025 in the evening. We were standing by the heated bench and spoke for less than 1 minute to say 'we just finished the hot tub is rest the next area recommended?' Right then a staff member (short, straight long black hair, blue eyes) literally ran over and said 'you're not allowed to talk. If you want to talk go do it in the laundry room.' (I assume she meant change room?). Surprised, we said each said 'sorry' but she was fuming. After she turned around my friend and I, definitely in a whisper close to each other said 'rest?' And pointed to the area. The same staff member turned around and this time yelled 'GUYS?!' The area we were standing is near where the hot pool water fall is which is quite loud so its possible we were speaking slightly louder than a whisper to hear each other and the sound could echo in that area. I also understand staff doing their jobs to keep noise down for the other guests. But this staff was actually really aggressive and rude in how she spoke to us. She addressed us definitely louder than how my friend and I were talking to each other. I had never been so embaressed and disrespected. I know my friend and I look young but were adult women in our 30s, we don't need to be repremanded like we're 7 year old children on time out. I'm not sure why she thought it was ok to talk to guests like that. Theres a sign in the area that says 'silence is golden' and most normal people would assume that suggests this isnt a loud coffee shop and chattering environment but what's the point of coming with people you know just so you can pretend you came in alone and act like this is a silent retreat where you cant make contact of any kind to quickly coordinate where you and the people you came with want to go. Don't you expect people come in together so they can stay together? We weren't standing there loudly gossiping about some tv show we watched. We were trying to move somewhere together. I saw and heard much louder conversation happening thoughout out the spa and no one said anything to them. If you wanted to make it so speaking words at all is forbidden then just stay that right at the entrance before you take guests money so they know they are stepping into a literal silent retreat and that they should avoid eye contact as well and learn sign language before. No where did it say it was manditory to avoid to communicate with words. Please teach your staff to do their jobs but respectfully. Guests might need a gentle reminder but staff dont need to make a scene out of it. She literally ruined the experience for us afterwards. We have been to multiple spas and have never experienced this. I was going to give the place a 5 star but its getting a 1. Comments from other people about the staff and the insane silence policy is true and insane. Learn sign language before or better yet, don't...
Read moreUpdate: 15 December 2024. 5th time being here and they don’t have Bags for your bathing suits. Kind of disappointed for that.
God Bless you all.
UPDATE: 01 Nov. 2024. They don’t have Slippers and I’m not happy about that. They used to have it.
I’ve been here 4 times and that’s what surprised me the most.
Their clocks don’t work. And it’s always at the same time. Like 16:20.
I’m also not happy that they have a locker room for TRANSgender. Remove that locker room for something better and better room or more space.
I hope they improve the facilities by expanding and adding more Like Bota Bota.
Maybe make more space by buying more building.
Please make this Spa Better by improving the spa rather than doing wrong things.
Also check in online should be improve in terms of security and checking Like by adding better in terms of conditions.
God Bless the owner(s) and people who manage it. I hope they will change location or improve the Spa.
God Bless the spa and I will return once they improved on Layout and zone relaxations.
God Bless people who run it and make it good.
Feb 2024: Scandinave Spa is an okay Spa in Old Montreal Here is my honest opinion about this Spa.
Pros: A) Location is nice since it's in Old Montreal and Downtown. B) Spa looks clean and well organized espcially in the Locker Rooms. C) Love the Hot Pool, Eucalyptus steam room and the Cold bath. D) Customer Service was good and the Lady that served us was nice and restpecful. E) Its nice that they have Lemon Water and a water fountain for Water refills. G) Nice Rest areas to just read a book or relax. F) They have apples to eat.
Cons: A) Parking is a challenge B) They should have more smoothie options and more times to bring them or just have your own. C) The area might be slippery due to the water. D) More options for cold therapy. D) They need to be better at addressing the needs and support of guests making sure that they are okay also they need better service when it comes to English speaking. The zero stress room needs to be improved with better ergonomic features instead of bean bags.
Conclusion: It is pretty similar to most spas that have the baths but I would reccomend this to anyone that wants to give this a try for Hydrotherapy.
Hope they improve everything and would love to return in the near...
Read moreI am sorry to give 1 star but it doesn't deserve more than that.
First of all , really expensive for 1 spa , 2 sauna dry/wet. When we got there our locker didn't have anything in it , it was supposed to have a bathrobe and a bath towel.
The steam sauna has a nice scent of eucalyptus but thats it. There is a huge gap between when it steams and when it doesnt so after a while its not even warm, even worse when there's a lot of people going in and out and the door won't close well by itself there is always 1inch open so all the steam is gone in 2 minutes.
We went on a saturday , we were told it was booked when we got there at 1pm we couldn't get a spot until 5pm obviously with no discount for having less time for the spa but honestly 2hours is enough for this small vanity. However when we got there , we were probably 30 and after 1 hour we were like 50 person and very overcrowded, i wonder what happened to the max capacity that they told us. My fiancée had to sit on my laps for the spa and like i mentionned the steam sauna was so overcrowded i was feeling cold since everyone came in to see that there is no space and leave on multiple occasions.
The spa have the weakest jet i have seen yet. Barely noticeable and most of them are broken physically and the piece lie there next to the spa, i counted like 6 so i am guessing they have been there for some time now. The drain is super loud and make weird sounds which is way more annoying than people talking yet staff constantly reminds us to not talk when we are whispering our partner where to go next. The waterfall is okay. Although there's the cold pool next to the spa and when people are not careful they send a ton of cold water into the spa, you can feel the cold into the spa.
The dry sauna seemed fine , lot of space and was working well.
The rest area is really low budget especially for the beans bag that you can find in school where you touch the floor at some point.
There was supposed to have smoothies or whatsoever, never happened. There is no changing room beside one (1 person at the time) outside of the locker/shower room. The showers seems clean though and working.
Honestly giving this 4 or 5 stars shows that you have never done another...
