Great Food and Fabulous Service by Yannick, Francesca, Lili and Clemence at La Catrina in Vieux Port Montreal.

I wanted to extend my sincerest thanks to the entire staff at La Catrina located in the Vieux Port of Old Montreal. The food at La Catrina in Vieux Port Montreal was especially tasty and savory. The service at La Catrina in Vieux Port Montreal was excellent.

I got together with a group of friends in Old Montreal to have dinner at La Catrina. I am happy to say that we had a phenomenal experience. We wanted to take advantage of the outside seating area on a beautiful night. Even though the restaurant was very crowded, the restaurant manager, Yannick, quickly pulled together four tables—minimizing wait-time.

Francesca, the young lady who took our orders, was friendly and cordial. Francesca explained menu options, suggested dishes we might like to sample, made polite conversation with all of the guests and was very attentive to each person. She provided us with exceptional service over and above what normally might be expected—and more than what I have received at other restaurants of similar quality. Especially, in view of the late hour and the many other restaurant guests to which she had to tend. She even made the guacamole right at our table—personalizing the recipe according to our tastes.

Francesca was fantastic. She understood we were hungry and handled our orders quickly. She remembered what each one of us ordered and placed the correct plate in front of each person quickly and seamlessly. Incredibly impressive in view of the number of tables she was handling that evening and the number of orders she must have taken.

Both Yannick and Francesca were incredibly attentive to all of our requests and made it a point to pass by the table on three or four occasions to politely inquire whether everything was going well and whether we wanted additional food or drink.

Additionally, I would be remiss if I did not mention Lili and Clemence, who also contributed to an overall great dining experience as a result of their tireless efforts.

In short, Yannick, Francesca, Lili and Clemence provided great customer service in a courteous and professional manner. When friends, colleagues and others ask me for a recommendation for great Mexican food and excellent service, I will let them know that they must...

It’s not bad, but it’s not the best, there’s a lot of wrong things with this restaurant

We had a reservation at 8 pm and when we show up there they tell us they will CHECK if our table is ready when it should be then why do I make a reservation for

Arriving there the place is EXTRA small and for such a small place they put the music way louder, it’s not a bar or a club… and if they’re doing the guacamole at table thing stop it because the waitress was preparing it on the table behind my boyfriend and she hit him couple of times because of the lack of room at the place

The service is slow and we order two Go Loco drinks and by 8 pm they didn’t have more so we only could have one, a drink that is 20 $ and it doesn’t even taste like anything and has more ice than the drink it self. I order a Stella instead of the other drink and they bring me cage beer in a glass.

I order two starters and the waitress asks me if I am sure I do want them both at the same time, excuse me but I eat what I want to eat… then while preparing the guacamole we ask it to be super spicy and she assure us it’s “spicy” which is not at all… it only taste like avocado and lime.

We wanted the Quesatacos that were shown on the menu online and Instagram and they don’t even have it on the menu… the tacos al pastor we order doesn’t taste like pastor and never put green guacamole salsa on this tacos it’s just wrong.

finally I went to the bathroom and when I come back they already bring the check when we didn’t even ask for it… like if they were kicking us out…

Won’t come back here… I do know what authentic Mexican food is because I AM Mexican, do...

Came here with my boyfriend for a late dinner on Saturday night. We were greeted right away and seated on the terrace, which was where we wanted to sit. The place was busy and lively but in a good way, it did not feel crowded or overwhelming. Our server was excellent all night and gave great recommendations and advice on the menu. Most of the menu is gluten free with the exception of two or three items, so this is great if you are celiac or follow a gluten free diet. We each ordered a drink (they have great cocktails, a little pricey but that’s to be expected in this area of Montreal), two grilled shrimp tacos (delicious) and the sharing platter for 2. The sharing platter plus the two tacos together was the PERFECT amount of food and so so delicious! If we were hungrier we could have ordered another taco but the amount we ordered was still enough to fill us up. The sharing platter had such a good variety of everything- it is an absolute must-have if you go to La Catrina. The corn dish (esquites) was part of our sharing platter and it was so delicious! Neither of us had ever ordered this dish before, so I can’t speak to how it compares to the “real deal” but it was absolutely delicious. Everything tasted soooo fresh. I can’t recommend this place enough! There’s so many good food options in the area that it was so hard for us to decide on a spot that night, but I’m so happy we...

I wanted this experience to be fantastic as the reason my wife and I ate here was for our 10 year anniversary. I left wanting more from the experience. As an entree, the wife and I shared the guacamole dish. The home made chips are really good and the guac was absolutely delicious however the table side service wasn't quick. In fact, at one point we were wondering if they forgot our order. We each ordered a drink, I was adventurous enough to try the spicy mango. I love spicy food so, why not? It was ok, I did not order a second (wasn't my kind of drink). My wife ordered the vida loca and it was really good. We each took a taco dish: wife selected the deep fried chicken tacos and I chose the shrimp tacos. The portions are small and the dishes didn't come with any sides, which is a little disappointing considering the location and price of the dish... BUT, in terms of flavor, the shrimp tacos get a 10/10. They were really good. They weren't served hot either, warm at best. My wife said the same about her dish. We dined over 1h30 min, which I personally think is long for an entree and main (we ordered everything at the same time, drinks and food). The staff were all incredibly friendly but small adjustments could have made for a better experience; example: not replacing empty water bottles and not coming to clear our table before the next service

Last night we went to this restaurant for birthday, reason We picked this place was close to home and we checked the instagram page look like fine dining and fancy but Unfortunately it was very bad experience foods have No taste at all If you are not Mexican at least hire A MEXICAN Chef, my partner is Mexican i have tasted Mexican food outside and inside the Mexico and this was the Worst they don’t use any chilis or ingredients make you feel eating Mexican food i wanted to order tuna tartar they had pictures on instagram no exist in menu i think is just for show, menu has no variety, my partner ordered Al pastor taco no taste at all they don’t even know they should bring sauce, you ask everywhere they know Mexicans food are famous for sauces, Ceviche was nightmare too much acidity they used artificial lime juice one tip if you are serving sour ceviche you will need to add some sweet like mango to balance it , my partner suffered stomachache all night, I don’t how some people review it as good here tbh. And i don’t mind pay more to eat delicious unfortunately was pricey and not delicious even in Türkiye they make Mexican food much delicious than this restaurant. Just don’t go there by checking instagram is not real is all show I gave 2 star just for staff being nice and atmosphere
