Old-world charm of Rue Saint-Paul In Old Montréal Canada Here are some clips from my walk on Rue Saint-Paul (Saint Paul Street) in the Old Montreal historic area of Montreal, Quebec in Canada. Paved in 1672, it is Montreal’s oldest street and was named after Paul de Chomedey de Maisonneuve, founder of Montreal, who built a home for himself on it in 1650. The street is home to such landmarks as the Bonsecours Market and Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel. The first clip features @vieuxportsteakhouse with floral installation by @drinspireinc. Actually found this place while on our way to The Keg Restaurant one night a couple of week ago. Being from the west island it's always nice to get away and go eat 'downtown old Montréal'. After seeing this place one night walking by, I said to myself, gotta come try this place and so we did. Walked in here last Friday night around 9:30p.m. and my wife and I were greeted by a cute blonde hostess who took us to a table but almost right near the front door. I asked if there was room upstairs and there was. We sat at a cosy table next to the glass wine cellar. We were served by Miguel who was very friendly and welcoming. Miguel made some suggestions when we asked what to chose between certain items on the menu and he was right, it was delicious. As hors d'oeuvres, I had the roast beef poutine and my hot wife had the onion soup...both delicious. My hot wife had steak and shrimps while I tried the lamb chops. Both served with mashed potatoes and vegetables and also delicious. All choices approved by our super polite waiter, Miguel. Vieux-Port Steakhouse is fortunate to have someone like Miguel working for them. We tried a glass of Lussac wine also suggested by Miguel and found it really tasty and it blended well with our meals. The decor is really chic and warm. My wife commented this was going to be our new place lol. It was pretty busy too considering the late time but this place is huge with an upstairs and a very happening terrasse on the street level. If you're not sure where to go tonight or some other night, whether you're from out of town or not, go try this place the Vieux-Port Steakhouse is a great place to go. STOP HESITATING AND GO TRY IT NOW ! ITS GOOD FOOD AND VERY GOOD SERVICE Don't forget to ask to be seated in Miguel's section so you can also enjoy his expert service. He made our experience flawless. While I understand that it was a busy night, I was a little disappointed with the overall quality of our meal. We started with the onion soup, which unfortunately did not meet our expectations. The flavor was lacking and it seemed to be missing some key ingredients. Moving on to our main dishes, they were decent but not quite up to the standard we had anticipated. Although the steak was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious, the accompanying vegetables and fries were not as flavorful as we had hoped. The vegetables seemed overcooked and lacked freshness, while the fries were not as crispy as we would have liked. Additionally, the service seemed a bit rushed, which detracted from the overall dining experience. It would have been nice to have a more relaxed atmosphere to fully enjoy our meal. Despite these shortcomings, I must commend the excellent service provided by our server. They were attentive and friendly throughout the evening, which helped to mitigate some of the issues we encountered with the food. Overall, while there were some aspects of our dining experience that fell short of our expectations, we still appreciate the effort put forth by the staff. We hope that this feedback will be taken constructively to improve the quality of the dining experience for future patrons.

I visited vieux port steakhouse during my vist to old Montreal, after a quick look at Google review. This establishment has been in business for 20 years great service and frendly staff and perfectly cooked stake. I was expecting that when i visited this place but what i got was bad service, sub par food, a wasted meal during my vacation. I walked in to a very friendly smile bur the restaurant was empty it was early didn't think much of it. After being seated i waited 15 min for service. It was early so i was fine, what ever. Ther service person came, i was ready, it is montreal so i ordered the rost beef poutine new york for me and rib stake for the wife glass of house red for the wife and side of wild rice. The poutine was ok.... couldn't see much rost beef on the rost beef poutine, but grave was good and cheese was very good, It was nothing special. Then the stakes came out, ordered medium and got burnt rib stake and welldone new york. It was funny that me and my wife just talked about how you cant mess up a stake at a stake house that has been im business for more than 20 years just before stakes came out. I wanted to send it back right away but my wife reminded me of the covid and pointed out how empty the restaurant was....... Couldn't argue with that so eat my over cooked stake my wife played with it, after 20 min our server came to check on us. I wanted to just hold my self but did tell him our stakes were over cooked. He apologized and told us we could send it back but by then i was more than half done and told him i would just finish mine and asked for a new stake for my wife, since she only played with her food. Funny you wouldn't think that a stake house that has been in business for over 20 years will not mess up a stake 3 times in a row but they did, asked for a med got a med rare.... At that point my wife was done, i sad screw it i will just eat it, finshed half at the restaurant and eating leftovers in my hotel room now close to midnight. Two postive things about my dinner was that the side of rested veggies were very good and i had leftovers, even a bad stake is good as midnight snack. Negatives were servers were not attentive had to ask for spoon for side of wild rice i ordered, had to ask for water refill. People were just bot around to help. Food was average not considering overcooked stake. I am taking time out of my life leaving this review not because i am not trying to put down the restaurant, if this place was in business for over 20 years i am sure it was doing something right before but with the covid and cut hours to staff it feels like they are going through a rough time, please dont do the easy thing and do to the keg next door, visit the restaurant but dont be like me just feel bad about the situation and put up with the bad food and service. Let them know what they are doing wrong and what they are doing right. I dont know when i will come back to montreal but i have made a promise to myself to come back to vieux port steakhouse because what are the chances that they will mess up my stake four times in row.

Nothing special. Reserved as a birthday dinner noted in the comment section of the RSVP, and servers treatment felt like we were an inconvenient table to serve. Other tables the server waited to see them sip their wine, readily offered bread to start, and checked if people liked their food, we felt ignored. Food arrived and I’m sure my partners steak was the incorrect cut because it was tough and jagged, where the order (and receipt) had us wanting filet mignons (mine 6oz, theirs 8oz). Both cooked to medium rare but the server never came by to ask if they were okay/cooked correctly. We didn’t voice our concerns, giving up on the whole night. Salad was a sad wedge salad, calamari with good texture but no flavour and cold, and the soup fell a little flat though the best of the three. I ordered the 6oz filet+salad+creme brûlée as a bundle they had going on, planning on sharing the dessert. We noticed other tables were given happy birthday candle and singing delivery of a dessert, and while I wasn’t expecting them to add in another free dessert it would have been nice for my partner to have had the same presentation for the delivery of our creme brûlée. Not the case. Also sitting on the second floor where we were there is an unfortunate light from the main floor that was shining up into my peripheral vision, place was packed and no alternative places were available, we opted to move our table forward 2 feet.

This place was such a let down. We had several amazing meals in Old Montreal during our stay and unfortunately this was our last night in town, and a total dud. We, a party of two, sat down and were handed one food menu and one wine menu. We planned to ask for a second menu but by the time the server came around, we were ready to order. We were not given bread. We ordered escargot for an appetizer and I got French onion soup. The soup was very bland and there was a bay leaf in my cup. The escargot was the best thing we had all night. It would have been nice to have bread to soak up the butter & garlic. For an entree, I ordered the 6oz filet- medium. When it came out, it was quite rare. I had to send it back (something I’ve never done before!) and the picture is after it was returned to me, still on the rare side. Aside from the temperature, it was under-seasoned and bland. The sides were garlic mashed potatoes which were delightful and two carrots and one piece of broccoli. It was absolutely not a $43 plate of food. My husband ordered the steak frites were supposed to come with a shallot sauce, but his steak was bone dry. This was an incredibly disappointing meal and in an area with really great options, I highly recommend going elsewhere.
