Inconsistent portion sizes. Probably the worst Earnest experience I've ever had across my visits to all 4 Earnest locations in Vancouver.

I was here at around 630pm with a friend. Waited for approximately 10 minutes in line. Looked around while waiting in store and noticed a staff who was wearing a blue blouse and a red cap serving less-than-normal portion sizes to the point I thought it was pitiful for the price (at least 30% smaller than all other staff were serving).

Came our turn and it was the same staff who helped us with our order. We still gave it a go cuz we thought it was just a 'one-off' thing we saw, and we were hoping it wouldn't happen to us. She wrote our orders on a clipboard (I'm assuming she's new?), and went her way to fulfill our orders.

It was quite a disappointment when I got mine (see pic; first pic was what I got; second pic is my expectation based on past experiences at all other locations, including my visit to the Fraser store last week). I've NEVER been given such a small scoop of ice cream from Earnest throughout my 10 years of patronage at all locations (False Creek, Fraser, North Van, Clark). We stayed there for another 15 minutes just to verify for curiosity whether it was again a 'one-off' situation, and we noticed the same staff had been consistent in her approach (small scoops), but inconsistent when compared with other staff - other staff were much more generous and were meeting that expectation I had. Saw multiple disappointed faces from customers when they got their orders from the same staff.

You can even check the pics that have been posted by all other customers lately - the scoop you get is often larger than the edge of the cone and would overflow at the base.

Not sure if this is a training issue or what, but I'd probably skip this location for good to avoid the disappointment. It's a matter of principle - why am I paying the same price as other customers but...

I have been to Earnest Icecream at three different locations in Vancouver. This one is located in North Vancouver and it is my first time here. My husband and I came here for desserts tonight.

Interior design and ambience are great here. They have exactly the same or similar flavours that the other three branches have. Great!

However, the service was extremely slow. The lineup was long on a Friday evening. Only three staff took care of the orders collecting money, letting customers try the flavours (before choosing what they wanted to eat and order), scooping the icecream and serving the customers. The whole process was very slow, so each customer was waiting in line for a long time. Not a good experience already.

We tried different flavours from different branches and even bought a lot of Earnest Icecream home, so we decided to order something special. We ordered a caramel walnut sundae. Unfortunately, the sundae was soaked in an extremely sweet caramel/walnut sauce. When we had a first bite, we were eating 100x sugar in our mouth! The sauce of the sundae was so much that it was very watery like soup. We only had a few bites and just left the store. Very disappointed at this sundae.

This was the first bad experience we had from Earnest Icecream. The other three branches were...

Ernest Ice Cream is hands down one of the best ice cream spots I’ve ever visited — and I’ve tried quite a few! From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted with warm smiles and genuinely kind service. The staff here are not only professional but also incredibly friendly and patient, always ready to help you find your new favorite flavor.

Now, let’s talk about the ice cream — it’s absolutely phenomenal. The texture is rich and creamy, and every flavor feels thoughtfully crafted with high-quality ingredients. They have a wide variety of options that cater to every taste, from classic favorites like Salted Caramel to more unique seasonal offerings that surprise and delight. I especially love how they also offer dairy-free and vegan choices that are just as delicious as the regular ones!

The North Vancouver location has a cozy, welcoming vibe and is the perfect stop whether you’re strolling the neighborhood or craving something sweet after dinner. You can really tell that this company cares about its values — from the reusable jars to the locally-sourced ingredients, everything is done with purpose and love.

Highly, highly recommend! If you haven’t been to Ernest Ice Cream yet, you’re seriously missing out. Five stars...
