This is a difficult review to do because this is just a typical shopping center designed in the 1970s. It has been renovated and is clean and spacious. This mall is perfectly centrally located in Ottawa and has a big chain grocery store (they will load the groceries into your car), a Walmart, banks, jewelry, clothes, dentist... heck... it pretty much has it all in terms of shopping. The food court is up on the 2nd level... a bit awkward to navigate in a wheelchair but accessible. Parking is plenty and free. So... for a review of a mall... I asked myself, "Why only 4 stars not 5?" This place lacks a "vibe"... a real energy that other malls have AND driving to this place is awkward as the entrance to parking is off a very busy street or off a one-way street. Bottom line: I go regularly because it is operating at lower customer traffic flow-through than capable of, and I don't like crowds... so good for me, bad for the merchants. Walmart is always full, though (grrr) Ex-banker assessment: before renting a space here, I would advise careful consideration of cost of leasing vs traffic. Mall is...
Read moreBillings Bridge is a decent shopping destination, but it falls short in terms of variety and selection. While the mall is clean and well-maintained, the limited number of stores can be a drawback for those looking for a diverse shopping experience. Pros: Clean and Well-Maintained: The mall is kept in good condition, with clean facilities and a pleasant atmosphere. Convenient Location: Easily accessible by public transport and with ample parking available and OC Transpo. Friendly Staff: The staff at the stores are generally helpful and courteous.
Cons: Limited Store Selection: The mall has a limited number of stores, which can make it difficult to find specific items or brands including electronics. Lack of Variety: The range of stores is not very diverse, with many similar types of shops and few unique or specialty stores. Food Court Options: The food court has a limited selection of dining options, which can be disappointing for those looking for a variety of cuisines. Tom Hortons is the main go-to with limited seats in the food court with people just...
Read moreThere has been a issue with their lack of accessible washrooms for years and they seemingly refuse to change anything. They keep the 2 family/accessible washrooms locked, and there is a button to push to alert staff to open the washroom. However, staff NEVER respond to the button, and they can not let you in remotely-they need to physically come to the washroom and unlock it. We end up standing there for 15 minutes waiting for anyone to come and they dont, so they i have to take my special needs boy into the womens washroom with me.
If you are going to have these washrooms locked, at least upgrade your technology so that staff can open the doors remotely like other malls have done. The few times I have had to ask a staff member to open the washroom I was met with attitude for disturbing their conversations with their friends.
This may not seem like a big issue to the owners of billings bridge, but by not having ACCESSIBLE washrooms, you are discriminating against those with special needs who require assistance. Shame on them for not addressing...
