Visited the Ottawa Gastronomical Institute (OGI) for a Colonoscopy which is located at the far end of Elmvale Shopping Centre and I was thoroughly impressed by the speed, professionalism and quality of service I received there.
My appointment was at 12:30, I arrived at 12:00, was called in at 12:30 promptly, led into a room full of at least curtained off beds, each with its own number on the wall.
The nurse gave me instructions, asked me a few questions and set the IV line and sent in the anesthesiologist who explained the process she was going to perform. Within 10 minutes, I was wheeled out of my curtain on my gurney into the procedure room, met by the doctor, he explained the procedure, and once I got the juice through the IV, I was off to the races. I awoke at about 13:45 and caught the last 15 minutes of video. No pain, no memory, felt like a thousand bucks!
Was wheeled back to my curtain and got dressed, left to the waiting room for my ride and off I went. Results came back to my doctor within 1 week although they said it could take up to 3.

Read moreBeing my local shopping center, I go here often; From Loblaws to get groceries in the middle of the month, the Public Library to get the odd thing printed out, the Walk-in Clinic to get checked out when my doctor isn't available, the pet store to get things for my dogs, my home Bank, RBC, to make transactions, the Home Hardware for one of my many hair-brained "projects" or for DIY solutions to house issues, the Rexall Pharma Plus to pick up prescriptions or to get some over the counter medications for migraines and allergies, to a handful of restaurants that dot the area, my favourite being the Disco BRGR, which is a Poutinerie that also serves Burgers and Hotdogs as well as Ice Cream.
Very close by this shopping center is the Museum of Science and Technology, which at the time of this writing is still under heavy construction in anticipation of its reopening a little over two months from now, which will boast a lot more space for the...
Read moreElmvale is desperate for people to work there. Unfortunately, they will hire anyone, regardless of their personality, abilities, and hygiene. It is very convenient for me, but because of the formentioned issues as well as the constant problems with their produce rotting the next day; I much prefer to do my groceries at Metro down the street, corner of Walkley & St Laurent. WARNING: Don't waste your time and money on food at this location, you will be greatly disappointed. For customers like me; on a fixed income, it's very important to us to trust your Grocer provides us/ anyone shopping at their market with only the best. As in all aspects of business, it costs a lot more to bring in a new customer, than it does to keep a loyal customer satisfied with their friends and family. I suppose the head of Loblaws missed that...
