A street well representing Old Quebec, or the Canadian French community. Artistic, stylish, lively but not excessively nostalgic. Some said it was the oldest commerce district in North America. I do not doubt it. It’s different from the luxury embodied in the uphill castle hotel, or the stately city hall or plaza.
Even it is already a tourist spot with unavoidable souvenir stores, it remains a handful of local artist workshops. Note that most of the stores (restaurant or bistros excepted) will close for business around 4 to 5 p.m. So did reserved some more daytime in your trip, especially if you want to pay a visit to the galleries along the way.
I made my trip in late April 2025, which is not a peak tourism season to my understanding. The street is not too crowded.
I personally recommend you to pay another night visit to the street, say around late 8p.m. (Subject to sunset time or daytime available).
