yorkdale alo - horrible service and bad business practices
yesterday i visited the alo store in yorkdale and purchased this crew neck with the tag indicating the price as $158 . We didnât notice until we got back to our vehicle that the store had charged us the item for $168.
We had to walk from the parking lot, all the way back into the mall, to the alo store to dispute the incorrect charges and the one girl assisting me (caucasian / brown hair / hair styled unintentionally straight and bland / could have had braces- wish i got her name)
Didnt even look at the receipt nor the tag on the sweater before she stated that they are going through price changes at the moment and the sticker has the wrong price. mind you i informed her that every single sticker i found in this same style and colour of crewneck on the floor was labelled as $158. (i know bc i needed a medium in the same style and went through all the merchandise ) How could the sticker be wrong? If the sticker is the same $158 on the other crewnecks in the same style and colour?
She persisted that she is unable to help me and had made up her mind that she is not going to honour nor take accountability for the mistake made on their stores part. Once again did not even bother to check the tag on my sweater or the other sweaters i mentioned that all had the incorrect tag.
she just took the crew neck out of the bag and put it back in the bag after standing her ground on not being able to assist. She advised that âall stores are going through price changes at the moment and so the price we charged you is the correct price of the crewneck regardless of the stickerâ
Frustrated, I had to go all the way to their next location in Sherway Gardens. In Sherway, i had 10000% times better service. I was greeted right away by a kind lady and explained our situation and she said that they will honour the price on the tag and she will bring up the issue to her manager. the store manager at Sherway also explained how most items are going through price changes but regardless they will honour the sticker as shown. He was incredibly helpful, understanding and considerate to our situation. He was also apologizing on behalf of the other store.
DO NOT GO TO YORKDALE ALO- Sherway Gardens location is the way to go.
Yorkdale has dishonourable workplace practices and will not help you when a mistake is made on their part. who knows how many other people were...
Read moreI recently had a very disappointing experience at the Alo Workout Store. I spent $1000 on several items, including two blazers in size Large. After waiting in a ridiculously long lineup for over an hour and a half, I left the store feeling pretty drained and excited about my purchase. However, when I tried to come back the same day to exchange the blazers for a Medium, I was told by the store manager, Kenny, that I would need to stand in the same long lineup to make the exchange.
Considering how exhausting and dehydrating the wait was earlierâthere were so many people, and the store was incredibly hot, I had to pickup some water from there fridge and ask one of the workers if I can drink this while Iâm in the line and pay once itâs my turn, and she said yes!
I was honestly hoping for some kind of customer-centric solution, especially given the high-end nature of the store. I politely asked if there was any way to bypass the line for the exchange, but Kenny was unhelpful and insisted I would need to stand in line again. I explained that I wouldnât be able to come back before the sale ends in four days, as I wonât get another day off until the following Monday, but unfortunately, nothing was done to accommodate me.
Itâs clear that this store is more focused on volume and numbers than on delivering a positive customer experience. For a high-end brand like Alo, I expected far better service and a more thoughtful approach to exchanges, especially under these circumstances. I left without being able to exchange the items I needed, and now Iâm stuck with blazers that donât fit. Very disappointing experience, and it makes me reconsider shopping at this store...
Read moreI had a deeply troubling experience at the Alo Yorkdale location during their anniversary sale. While shopping, I witnessed two customers cut in line ahead of people who had been waiting for an hour. When other customers (of various ethnicities) politely asked them to respect the line, the situation escalated into one person making explicitly racist comments toward Asian customers, including telling them to âgo back to your countryâand using other derogatory language, including âChinese people are weirdosâ, âfollow your own rule and mind your own business â. What was most disappointing was the storeâs response. Despite multiple customers reporting this behavior to staff and security, management ultimately served the individuals who had both disrupted store protocol and made racist remarks, without addressing the hostile environment this created for other customers. As someone who values both customer service and basic respect for all people regardless of background, I cannot recommend shopping at a location that fails to maintain a safe, respectful environment and appears to tolerate racist behavior. I hope the company addresses these serious customer service and staff...
