I took the AFK exam at the Beanfield Center in Toronto. Although the exam started at 9 a.m., the guidelines recommended arriving by 7:30 a.m. I reached the venue at 7:30 a.m., where we waited outside for 10-15 minutes before being allowed inside. The exam was held on the second floor. Upon entering, there is an escalator on the right; just follow the crowd to proceed.
The first step was an ID check. I used my driver's license, but they also accept passports. For more details, refer to the NDEB guidelines on acceptable IDs. After verifying the ID, you sign next to your name on their list, and they provide you with a wristband indicating your assigned desk number. This wristband must be kept on until the end of the exam.
Next, you proceed to a separate line to submit your phone. They place it in a sealed bag labeled with your desk number and instruct you to turn it off. Make sure all alarms are disabled, as alarms can still go off even if the phone is turned off. Afterward, you enter the exam room.
Once inside, you hang up your jacket (large jackets are not allowed during the exam). There are two tables: one for your bag and personal belongings, including any notes (which you cannot access during the scheduled break), and the other for your lunch. The organizers provide two pencils, an eraser, and earplugs. Watches are not permitted, but large screens display the time throughout the room, so a watch is unnecessary.
If you need to sneeze during the exam, raise your hand, and an invigilator will provide you with a tissue, which you must use and dispose of immediately. No additional time is given for this. If you need to use the washroom during the exam, you can do so, but an officer will accompany you. You are allowed to bring a translucent water bottle, but it cannot be placed on your desk.
Ten minutes before the exam begins, the proctors review the rules. You can use the washroom until the exam starts. You need to fill out the answer sheet with your personal information, which can be found on your sealed booklet (name, booklet number, and NDEB ID).
There is a scheduled one-hour lunch break. After the break, you must re-register by having your wristband checked and signing in again. You will also need to fill out a new answer sheet. During the last 10 minutes of the exam, they bring your sealed phone bag and place it on your desk.
This structured process ensures that the exam runs smoothly and adheres to strict guidelines. Thanks to the staff members for their professionalism and support throughout the day, which ensured a smooth and...

Kertland’s design is a unique blend of Classical and Modern styles. When it was first built, the Automotive Building was used to showcase new car and truck models. During the Second World War it served as a naval facility. In recent years, the building housed a variety of trade and consumers shows, and special events. In 2009, the Automotive Building underwent major renovations and is now a state-of-the-art conference centre renamed...
Read moreThe Beanfield Centre is a great place to have your event. I have been here for several events and have seen the halls empty and beautifully decorated. Parking is available in the garage or at one of the close by lots, which both cost. If you opt to park in the garage, there is an underground tunnel that connects directly to the Beanfield Centre which is pretty convenient to avoid the outside weather during cold and snow! Our sales representative was also super friendly and helpful in...
