For Trillium Park (and beyond/the trail): SUMMARY: insects :( but it's very big and nice for a scenic trip!
I’ve visited this place frequently since the opening. It’s a pleasant area for athletic and recreation purposes. The layout is quite neat, with a pavilion, nicely-arranged plants throughout, and a sand/boulder area (but watch out for spiders and flying bugs).
If you walk further ahead, they etched chess board grids on tables (requires chess pieces though) and basketball hoops. However, the hoops are placed near some body of water, so missing your shot could potentially lose your ball. Quite unfortunate that the big chess pieces from 3 years ago were removed too. Nonetheless, the scenery and photos still make the trip worthwhile!
The boulder area makes a great sunrise view and the CN tower is in that direction as well. Walking way ahead to the West Island makes a nice photo with the sunset, but watch your steps for geese poop. They also have this half front of a ship which is pretty cool.
On good weather days, there’s quite a lot of people. Sometimes, you can hear and catch glimpses of planes and ships (during pre-covid). I’m not familiar with parking and I don’t recall many food places around the area, but the place would make a cute picnic spot. Overall, I’d recommend Trillium Park...
