I would never recommend anyone to go here. The food was bland and service was horrible
First, the eggs Benedict tasted like almost nothing. Only the bacon on it had any flavour. I ordered some caramelized onions, hoping to add them to my eggs Benedict. I didn’t get caramelized onions. I got some mostly raw chopped onions. It looks like they had been put in the pan only long enough to soak up some oil. When they arrived at the table I eyed them suspiciously because they didn’t look right. I tried a few pieces on my eggs. They were not good. They tasted raw, and didn’t have any sweetness to them at all. I tried I couple tiny pieces on my potatoes to see if they could be salvaged as I hate to waste food but everything was better off without them, so I finished my meal leaving the bowl of onions virtually untouched with the exception of the few tiny squares I had tasted. No one checked on us for a long time. I waved down my server once for a coffee refill and when she came to pour the coffee she was still talking to another server so we still didn’t have her attention. When another woman came to take our plates I pointed out the full bowl of uneaten onions and asked for them to be removed from the bill it was like a measly $3 or less but it was more out of principal in consideration of the apparent lack of effort. When our server came by and we managed to stop her to ask for our bill I told her the same. She was rude and sharp and said loudly that in the future I would be expected to point it out right away if I wanted my money back as “it’s felt that you ate them”. I asked “felt by whom” and pointed out that I had just given back a bowl full to the brim missing only the few pieces I took to try to determine they were not as ordered. I suggested she follow her coworker to the kitchen to observe the bowl if she was going to question me and be rude about it. Then we asked her for separate bills and she seemed annoyed and barely audibly mumbled for us to go to the cash. Then she came and rang us up and walked away leaving another staff to finishing ringing us out without as much as a “thank you” or “have a nice day” or a “you’re welcome” to my own expression of thanks for the service. We felt like we had done her a disservice that day to have obliged her to eat out of bed and come to work. I commented about that to my friend (that she hadn’t even responded) when she walked away grumpily, and the man ringing us up overheard and clearly took notice. No apologies or any pleasantries of any kind were offered. Never have I felt like an annoyance just to be a customer. And we were pleasant and expressed gratitude for the service despite how shoddy it way. It was 1 of 2 times in my life I have give absolutely 0 tip. I should have gone across the street and apologized profusely to the friend I had made that suggestion to only because I had walked by and it’s on the block where I love. Guess I’ll have to find another regular spot. Too bad! Hope you...
Read moreFor those looking for a small yet welcoming environment with good service, you can certainly visit and enjoy Young's Sunny Morning.
The restaurant is open from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM for breakfast and snacks. The space is small but extremely clean and welcoming.
For those visiting by public transportation, it is located one block from the St. Clair metro and bus station. For those arriving by car, there are some private parking lots in the area, as well as paid street parking (which is a little more difficult to park).
For guests with physical disabilities, although there are signs indicating the door is wheelchair accessible, the restaurant door only has a spring system, not an automatic opening and closing system (using buttons). The hallway leading to the dining room is a bit narrow due to some side tables at the entrance, so those using a walker or wheelchair may need assistance. Unfortunately, they don't have a Braille menu, but they are ready to provide the best service and assistance to everyone. Because it's a small space, access to the restroom requires a staircase, as it's located in the basement.
The menu offers a good variety of dishes, including steaks. And for those who enjoy a sweet treat in the morning or afternoon, the fruit and chocolate toast is simply delicious. The dishes are very well served, the coffee is always fresh, and the prices are reasonable.
It's definitely worth checking out, whether you're a new resident or a tourist. For those who have lived in the area for a long time, simply continue to use and support...
Read moreOverall Summary: If I had read a review like this before going, I think my expectations would have been better and might have enjoyed going more... but that said, I'd go back to give it another try. Wait time to be seated: 3/5 Server Friendliness: 3.5/5 (Though would have been higher had the server attempted to be as friendly to us as she was with her regulars) Wait time to order: 4/5 Wait time for food: 4/5 Temperature of served food: 5/5 (served fresh off the grill, or shortly thereafter) Quality of food: 2.5/5 (I ordered the lumberjack and the over-easy eggs were under-cooked... the sausages were under-cooked compared to my personal preference, which is normally a little bit of a crispy skin layer... the pancakes were cakey, which was nice... & the bacon was perfectly crispy) Other Notes: After we were sat, we were asked to move from a 4 person to 2 person table by one of the table clearing staff to help accommodate new patrons, however after everyone else behind us were seated (some 2 patron groups at 4 person tables while leaving at least one two person table open next to us) and throughout our meal, there was another 4 person table open near us the rest of the time we were there, so that was a bit weird & annoying though understandable... We also saw "regulars" come in well after us and the people behind us in line (and after my table had ordered our meals as well), and yet they were served their meals at the same time as...
