SEPHORA — Attraction in Toronto

The staff here is so unfriendly and rude. I was literally there yesterday and asked an employee a question. I can’t remember the question exactly but I won’t forget how she scoffs at me for the amount of products in my basket because it was from this one specific brand (the ordinary). Then she turns away and continues what she’s doing even though I’m not even done asking my question. My boyfriend was right next to me and even asked me what’s her problem. Like I’m sorry, I thought I’m the one giving you business. Then when I go to check out, the cashier asks for my phone number or email. I tried giving it to her, but then she rolls her eyes at me and repeats herself as if I wasn’t just moving my lips and speaking trying to give it to her. She could’ve just politely said “sorry I didn’t get that” but no. Like I understand it’s a loud but her attitude was so unnecessary. After I gave my phone number and it no working for some reason (I literally shop at the Square One location and my phone number has no problem) we were going to try my email, but it seemed like she was so done with me. Like what’s her problem? Aren’t you guys trying to get my service? It’s also my birthday in a few weeks and I was just wondering about the gifts and I ask her about it and she straight up ignores me. After that, I just wanted to pay and get the hell out of there and never want to return to that location again. My boyfriend even asked if the employees are always rude here. Like they seriously need to tell their employees to treat all customers with respect. As a cashier myself, I would never want to make a customer feel the way I felt. I had the worst retail experience of my life in this store. I was handed on from salesperson to salesperson, several of which refused to help me altogether. When I did finally found someone she was disrespectful, belittling and outright rude.

From the very beginning I was clear about what I was looking for, simply wanting help finding a colour match for foundation. Instead of helping me with the products I asked about I was shown to the Armani section. I was then surrounded by four salespeople who tried to pressure me into purchasing a foundation that I clearly stated was out of my price range. The overall approach of these salespeople was inexcusable. They proceeded to ridicule me and talk about me as if I was not there and judging me for not being willing to spend $80 on foundation.

Finally, the sales person helping me showed me other products however she maintained a hostile and aggressive tone throughout the interaction. She told me she couldn’t help me without an appointment. Even as I started to cry tears of frustration from her attitude and persistent attempts to bully me into products that were out of my budget she continued to be rude and abrasive. No customer should have to face such disrespect, certainly not one who has demonstrated such loyalty to your company.

To add insult to injury, when I finally left the store I realized I had been sold an EMPTY TESTER concealer that had been put in the box. The sales person also colour matched me completely wrong, selling me a product that was far too dark for my complexion. Overall this was an absolutely terrible experience and has seriously made me question my loyalty to Sephora...

Do not buy and never enter to Perfumes 4U at Toronto Premium Outlets or wherever branch. Had a terrible experience with them.

This review is for Sephora and Perfumes 4U in comparison to their products and customer service.

I bought a gift of D&G Light Blue for my wife's bday at Perfumes 4U at Toronto Premium Outlet on June 09th, 2022. This was her perfume in the last 15 years so I'm very familiar with its scent. The next day, her birthday, she opened the present and we were both surprised as the perfume doesn't have a scent at all!! We sprayed like 5-7 times on skin and clothes and nothing!

Was so disappointed with the product and so embarrassed that my gift didn't pleased her (she thought I bought it at Flea Market).

So, on that same afternoon, I can't ease my mind and went to Sephora at Dixie Mall and bought the same product, same size, and almost same price as the Perfumes 4U. Went home and opened it and tested and the sweet smell of Light blue is all over the place! HUGE difference from the quality of Perfumes 4U.

So went to back to Perfumes 4U to return their product, and told me that they don't take it back as it is opened. I raised the alarm that I bought a genuine product from Sephora and compare and they have totally different product. The box, the prints on the box size, the color of the liquid, and of course the scent!

Raised my voice a bit, manager came out and offered me refund.

Buy from a legit and trusted store only! Now on, will only buy from Sephora or Shoppers Drug Mart.

Beware of Perfumes 4U products.
