Sunnyside Gus Ryder Outdoor Pool is a popular spot with great views and a refreshing swim, but there are some downsides. The pool doesn’t have its own parking lot, so finding parking nearby can be really tough, especially on busy days. The pool gets very crowded in the afternoons and early evenings, which makes it hard to find space to swim or relax. But the pool is super deep so you can dive and actually enjoy swimming as well as the crowd is very cheery and very friendly people. Lockers are available but cost 25 cents to use, which isn’t refundable. Luckily, a kind stranger once paid for my locker when I didn’t have quarters, which was a nice gesture amid the hustle. Overall, the pool is clean and staffed with lifeguards, but I’d recommend going during off-peak times and bringing quarters for lockers to make your visit smoother.

A big outdoor pool with some history behind it in Toronto by a beach on Lake Ontario. Day lockers need a quarter to use, bring your coins since no bags are allowed on deck. The showers leading to the pool deck are no longer freezing cold, so don't avoid them. The pool is wide and is divided into different depths. The deck is concrete so bring a good towel. There's a boardwalk trail that leads to Humber Bay, there are garden and parkland sections along the trail, there's a large step stone breakwater beside the pool along the lake to hang out in the sunshine, there's swans in the water to watch, there's a cafe to relax and dine at, there's a big parking lot, there's more than the pool which is great on its own, so enjoy your day in many ways!

I visited with my family on a Sunday during the summer, and overall, it was a great experience. I was pleasantly surprised that the entrance was free. Although it was somewhat crowded, it wasn’t overwhelming, we were still able to swim comfortably and enjoy the day. The changing rooms are spacious and well-maintained, with hot showers and soap available. It’s worth noting that large bags aren’t allowed in the swimming area, so it’s a good idea to bring a lock and use the lockers provided. The washrooms were clean, and there were plenty of staff around, ensuring everything ran smoothly and safely. We had a really enjoyable time and would definitely come back.

Today was the first time we have ever saw at this pool. It’s location is amazing - and while in the pool you have magnificent views of Lake Ontario and the CN Tower. We took the #80 bus SB from Keele Station. It is only 7 minutes from the station to the stop right across from the pool. It was not packed, which was great but do be careful if all the cyclists and electric scooters, mopeds and electric skateboards and bikes with assists. They are going so fast and so many are not wearing helmets.... The Café behind the pool looked good but the limit of 4 to a table was not followed. If you are going there and have concerns due to health issues, I would wait just that little bit longer. There was a canoe/kayak rental in the same location. The pool staff were friendly and organized. Do go early if you are on the booking system - if you haven’t shown up for your booked appointment by 5 minutes past the start time, it will be given to someone else. Be on time! Be prepared that people will stand at the fence and watch you - and even though they shouldn’t- they do take pictures. It was really rude! Be advised that there are no lockers available at this time. (June 13, 2021) Come dressed in your swimsuit - you will go straight out on to the deck. Showers are available as you go out - but most people just ran past them. We did not. The ramp into the pool was quite dirty at the top with debris. Maybe because it was the end of the day? But the change rooms were very dirty in the bathroom area. (you can use the change rooms at the end of the swim - June 13, 2021) Overall: great views, east transit access, heated water - the entire pool needs a revamp and a clean. I would go back just for the...

This pool is one of the best things about Toronto. However, washrooms are often nasty and the changerooms are usually dirty. On the plus side the water's heated and is usually lovely, despite the hairballs floating by, and the pool is right by the lake. If you close your eyes, you won't see the traffic going by on Lakeshore Blvd. It’s too bad the City staff can’t figure out a way to keep the place in better sanitary conditions and can’t keep the online schedule consistent with any changes that are made. The people who paddle and share the changeroom with the swimmers constantly leave their bags all over the changeroom and they dump sand into the showers and it makes it disgusting. This happens every single year. We were glad to hear the pool vacuum has been fixed. It’s not great at making the bottom of the pool clean in the deep end, for some reason. Now, a bonus lane rope! Fabulous! The water fountain keeps breaking. New soap dispensers, but I just wish they’d fill them. And a male custodian keeps showing up in the women’s changeroom while we’re changing. This has never been a problem in previous years. Why they can’t have him clean when we’re not changing OR why female guards can’t change the toilet paper as they had in previous years OR why they can’t have a female custodian for the women’s changeroom...

My favourite outdoor pool in Ontario. The free admission is great. Lifeguards on deck are polite and pleasant. However, the younger ones working the counter can learn to be more polite and respectful. They handle any question as an intrusion to their own group conversations.

Lots of space and most swimmers are respectful and friendly. You get the odd regulars who might act like they own the space but that happens anywhere. The lifeguards could do a better job to educate these entitled folks that we all share the space in a public pool.

The pool itself is clean and free of any debris. It feels clean and safe.

The location is excellent. The facilities itself can do with some upgrading like new paint and bigger lockers but it's good enough for now. If you like swimming outdoors, this is the pool to go to.

The lifeguards here are polite and take their job seriously. Unfortunately, parking is not free anymore except during weekday office hours.

It is fantastic to swim here and be able to see Rogers, walkers, dogs, baby strollers, and so on passing by.

The change room really needs an upgrade. And they really need to try to stabilize their dropping swim schedules, especially...
