If you’re Thai like me, or just someone who loves authentic Thai food, I’d honestly think twice about going to this place. The food? Sure, it’s great and tastes just like it does back in Thailand, but the service? That’s a whole different story. Being in Canada, you’d think the warmth and hospitality would translate no matter where you’re from, but I felt a clear disconnect in how we were treated.
Let me start by saying, we didn’t come here expecting free food or anything special. We just wanted to support a local business and enjoy a good meal, like anyone else. But from the minute we walked in, it felt like we were just being tolerated, not welcomed. The staff didn’t seem to care about our experience, and the service was so slow, it felt like we were bothering them just by being there.
It’s frustrating because the food itself was really good. If you’re craving legit Thai boat noodles, the flavors are on point. But honestly, even great food doesn’t make up for how we were treated. What’s worse is, I had already read some reviews saying this was a common issue, with some dating back two years. People have been calling out the slow service and lack of attention for a long time, and yet, nothing’s changed.
I went in with low expectations because of those reviews, but I still hoped it wouldn’t be that bad. Sadly, it was. The staff seemed uninterested, and we were left waiting around far too long without any acknowledgment. It felt like they didn’t really care whether we enjoyed our time there or not, and that’s just disappointing.
I get that sometimes restaurants have off days, but this seems to be a pattern they haven’t bothered to fix. It’s really a shame because, as I said, the food was great, but the service was a huge letdown. No matter how good the food is, if the experience leaves a bad taste, it’s not worth it.
So, if you’re thinking of trying Paddler Thai Boat Noodles, take this as a heads-up. The food might be good, but don’t expect much in terms of service. There are plenty of other Thai spots that offer both great food and the kind of welcoming service that makes you want to come back. Unfortunately, this place doesn’t seem to be one of them.
I really wanted to like this place, but after my experience, I don’t think I’ll be going back. Hopefully, they start paying attention to the feedback, but until then, I’d recommend finding a restaurant that values both its food and...
Read moreI would like to give this place 5 stars. Everything I have had here, whether Thai Boat Noodles or Pad Si-Ew, has been absolutely delicious. They balance flavours well here and the drinks are also tasty. I like to get their Thai Green Tea and this is the only place these days that I get such a dreamy drink. It‘s milky and rich and has a nice green colour. They don‘t have alcohol here, but I believe it is sufficient to be drunk with the flavours!
Today, I tried their chicken Suki Glass Noodle Soup for the first time and was impressed with the symphony of flavours! It is a dish I don‘t normally see in a Thai restaurant. I was told it was the Thai version of the hot pot and it was delightful. The broth was spicy, sour and sweet all at once. The glass noodles were a gorgeous texture, the chicken was lusciously tender and the vegetables added a nice crunchy bite to the overall heartwarming dish. I enjoyed every slurp and bite.
The indoor decor is also adorable. You feel like you‘ve stepped into someone’s well-decorated home. It has a nice warm atmosphere and is located right where Queen meets Roncesvalles. The location is also accessible with a washroom on the same floor. Service is warm and friendly here, too. Overall, I can’t say enough good things about Paddler Thai! If you have a hankering for a unique take on the beloved Thai fare, then Paddler Thai is for you! It is one of my ultimate favourite restaurants in Parkdale. Parkdale is lucky to have...

My boyfriend and I decided to venture into Paddler Thai Food for the first time, and it turned out to be a delightful culinary adventure. We started with the calamari appetiser, which was an absolute winner. The calamari was perfectly cooked and paired wonderfully with the rich peanut sauce, creating a burst of flavours in every bite.
For our main dishes, I opted for the chicken pad thai. While the chicken was a bit dry, the overall flavor profile was fantastic. The blend of spices and textures made the dish a memorable one. On the other hand, my boyfriend tried the special boat dry noodles with beef. The dish was incredibly flavorful, and he particularly enjoyed the kick from the chilli flakes, which added a spicy twist to the meal.
The service was prompt and courteous, adding to the overall positive experience. We left Paddler Thai Food with satisfied taste buds and a desire to return soon. With a few minor tweaks, this place could easily earn a perfect score. Overall, we rate our experience a solid 4.5/5. Kudos to the chefs for their creativity and dedication to delivering authentic...
