I don’t know who thought turning this place into a tourist attraction was a good idea, but they clearly hate people. This mansion isn’t just haunted—it’s hostile.
From the moment I stepped inside, the air felt wrong. Cold, damp, and heavy, like the walls were holding their breath. The floorboards creaked even when no one was walking. I swear I heard whispering in the hallway, and no, it wasn’t the tour guide—he bailed halfway through the intro because “the energy felt off.” Great start.
The decor? Think Victorian funeral home meets abandoned asylum. Cobwebs weren’t just for effect—they were real. One room had a rocking chair that moved on its own. I tried to film it, but my phone glitched and deleted the footage. Classic ghost move.
Worst part? The smell. A pungent mix of mildew, rotting wood, and something… metallic. Like old blood. I gagged twice and nearly left, but the exit signs kept flickering and I got turned around. At one point I ended up in a basement I swear wasn’t on the map. There were dolls. I don’t want to talk about the dolls.
I left shaken, sweaty, and spiritually violated. If you value your sanity, skip this place. Zero stars. Would give...
Read moreI’ll give it a 4, mainly because I think $20 was a little steep (not obscene- don’t get me wrong, I did not feel ripped off at all.)
$20 does give you the opportunity to go through as much as you want all day, it feels like you may miss a few things if you only go through once. It was about 30 minutes for us to complete.
Anyways, there’s a lot to explore, and it was longer than I though it would be. There was not much for jump scares, which I appreciated. As well, nobody was fake chasing us with a knife unlike a haunted house I visited in Niagara back in the day.
So lots to explore. We went on a Saturday and it didn’t feel overly crowded. The gardens in the back were very enjoyable as well.
I will agree with other reviewers, it did have a moldy smell in spots. But I guess since this is a haunted house, not a restaurant, I’ll let it pass!
If you’re in the area, I would...
Read moreThe Haunted mansion was a fun scare! I do recommend it. I was here 9 years ago and even though some is the same, there is lots new added and I was glad I went again. Much tamer than the Haunted Motel in Cavendish and more suited for younger kids but depending on your child. I wouldn’t take a child under age 10. It may give them nightmares. If in doubt though your admission includes as many trips through the mansion as you want so you could always pay for yourself and do a quick trip through to see if you felt it would be ok for your child first. It only takes about 15 minutes to do. The admission also covers the grounds and there are a couple rides included. (A tilt a whirl and airplanes) some animals (sheep and ducks) a “train” as well and some water falls and gardens...
