I was there to attend 'Feel The Power' Cheer leading competition. Big place for Athletes to perform and practice. However, the sound system or acoustics needs improvement in the amphitheatre. The good music became loud noise causing headache and speaker voice was not clear when he was announcing prizes and results on the Mike at the end of the competition. There was no mobile charging points for parents, friend and audiences who accompanied their athletes considering the full day program and wanted to click pictures and videos of performances. Only a small cafe inside without sitting facility, and no microwave to warm up meal during a full day program for children. The only options were to buy from outside stall or having snacks from inside cafe. I also didn't find a drinking water option inside. All the above are only the basic necessities if you are planning to invite guests and athletes including kids for full day programs or...
Read moreCame for the PNE. Took transit (SkyTrain to Renfrew Stn & then #16 bus) which meant we had an extra $25 to spend on fare food. Best washrooms are in the Colliseum where the Superdogs performed. Most of the food trucks are overpriced and underwhelming or offering sickly sweet treats. I recommend the Taco trucks for value and variety. We also enjoyed the classic mini donuts & pineapple whip. If you're in the Marketplace, don't fall for the Dragon Breath nitro icecream. The giant cereal puffs on top were bland and the "smoke" didn't last long. You can bring in a water bottle but if you buy one drink you can refill that cup at the water fountains or hydration station on the edge of the Revel District, next to the adult slushie vendor. Go mid-week to avoid long lineups...
Read moreHastings park is a very large park. It is not a traditionally green like most other parks. In the past couple decades the city has been planning to make the park a greener place that is a very slow process. At the southern edge of the park is the lake with forest and trails that is a very peaceful place. This is one of the nicer parks of the parks. The park is also home to several stadiums (Coliseum, Agrodome, Forum), horse racing, and amusement rides in the summer. There is also the empire field which is a recreation of the former empire stadium that was torn down. It is just a field with some seats on the side. Also, there is the Italian gardens, a playground and a skateboard, There is plan to restore the river from the current lake to new Brighton park on...
