Always keep my eye out for small fishing spots for me and my three kids. We don’t always have time to drive a couple hours out into the valley or up north or into the interior. Saw a review of this pond in the centre of the PNE. Decided to check it out one weekend afternoon when it was a bit rainy. Very easy to find, right on the PNE grounds. There is a well marked trail that goes around the pond. There is also a fishing jetty and specifically for the purpose. It accommodates up to five fisher people currently with Covid times. There are all manner of water fowl to be seen cruising and relaxing on the water and surrounding areas. It’s surrounded by lush greenery and you can almost imagine that it’s in the middle of someplace far away I supposed to right in the middle of the city. As usual, the kids got bored of fishing within a couple casts, however I kept on going and the kids had an abundance of places to play around the shore and further back on the PNE grounds. It all seemed very safe. On this day, there was only one other group on the jetty who packed it up pretty quickly anyways. There is a sign informing that this pond is routinely stocked with rainbow trout and online reviews and a cake that there are native bass fish in the pond as well. Today, we were not lucky and didn’t catch anything. However, we did have a nice outing and it was so nice to be so close to the city with just a quick getaway and a quick turnaround to come back home or to all of the city amenities right outside. Will definitely consider this again as it is so convenient. Very peaceful....
