Edited after reading owners reply:

Thank you for your response. I highly appreciate it. The refund is not necessary as we were going to tip regardless but it was just more disappointing on our end. I'm leaving my original review for transparency but I'm updating the review to reflect 5 stars as I genuinely love this restaurant so much and it could definitely be a one off situation.

Although my friends won't be returning this is still my favourite spot to eat.

Original review: I didn't want to leave this review but I felt like what happened yesterday was quite dishonest and an experience that left a negative impression for my friends. Usually I'd say this place deserves 5 stars because it's my go to pho place in the neighborhood. To my knowledge it's a small family own business and I constantly order here for delivery whenever I crave some pho.

Most restaurants disclose when they charge automatic tip and it's standard to charge for larger groups of typically 6+ people. However this is not the case here. I'm not sure if it was intentional and honestly we were in a rush to leave and didn't notice until it was too late. We had a group of 4 plus a child so total 5 people. No where is it written that groups of 5 is automatic tip and it seemed like the guy just charged us more. We were not provided a receipt nor was it at any point communicated to us that there was automatic tip for our bill. He just handed us the machine with the amount already added.

For example my bill came out to $39.27. I ordered the BBH (17.75) + Noodle only soup small ($8) and a mango smoothie (7) My bill would've been approximately $32-33 but I checked my banking transaction and saw that I paid $39.27 which works out to be about 20-22% tip.

I have no issue with tipping and consistently tip 15-20% anyways but I felt this experience was dishonest and have discouraged my friends from visiting again in the future. If this had been communicated to us it would've been no...

Came by this evening when our first choice as closed for the day. The restaurant name implied that their dishes would be authentic. Service was immediate when we entered. Brightly painted walls with modern decor, chandelier lights, comfortable chair and bench seating and dining tables. Ordered the spring roll appetizer, #65 pork chop & grilled chicken on rice, #54 spring roll, BBQ beef skewer, ground pork sticks on rice vermicelli and #19 pho noodles with rare beef, beef brisket and tripe. We also ordered a coke and a Vietnamese ice coffee. Imagine my shock when the waitress delivered my coffee arrived. It was not the traditional slow drip filter French coffee over condensed milk with a pitcher of ice!! When I questioned the waitress she didn't understand what I was asking. She then admitted to me that they didn't offer that kind of drink. What?? The $4 ice coffee drink I got was more ice than coffee, really strong and really sweet. I was extremely unhappy with this beverage. There was no way I could modify the coffee to my taste at all unlike the traditional drip coffee. The ground pork wrapped around the sticks was thin and dry. It would have been juicier if the combined pork from all 3 sticks was wrapped around one stick. The BBQ beef lacked any distinctive marinade seasoning, the spring roll was tasty thankfully but the dip could have been more strongly flavoured with fish sauce and chili flakes. The complimentary side bowl of broth that accompanied the pork chop and chicken dish had tart, savoury and herbaceous elements. A lovely contrast to the main dish. My son's pho was excellent according to his remarks. The taste of tripe was a new experience for him. We tried his soup broth and found it was intensely beef flavoured. Overall I would be more careful about my choices if we a e back...

Food was great - service was extremely rude !

Went here earlier tonight - around 8:40pm. I'm from out of town visiting and wanted to try the local pho.

Group of 4 plus my 4 month old. Wish I knew the waitresses name - to specify that her service was beyond rude tonight . Rushed us from the moment we got in - did not smile once , bought the food out - tapped me and the other guest several times and said "move " to put the dishes down in no order ; and did not care to ask whose dish went where .

Around 9:20pm (they close at 10pm)- she yelled to the lady behind the counter in Vietnamese "give these people the bill, so they can get the hell out , I don't want to be here until 10:30 like every other night " this is when I immediately walked up to pay the bill to signal that I heard and understood what she was saying . The lady behind the counter got the hint . The server kind of hot it too , but continued to be very unpleasant in her body language and overall facial expression (just looked like she was super annoyed) This is not only rude to be constantly mumbling in your native tongue behind your customers back - it's down right stupid (3 Asians and one Caucasian at our table ) you'd think she be smart enough to think that maybe one of us could have know vietnamese .

I own my own business as well , and grew up working in family business . Along the way you learn that friendly service goes a long way .

Like I said , food was great - and only this lady server (longer hair , dyed ) ruined the experience for me. As a fellow Viet myself , I was quite embarrassed of...

I love Vietnamese food. I was excited to come here to try the dishes as there were high ratings and all along Hastings are great Vietnamese places. I was very disappointed by Le Petit Saigon. Upon being seated, you will smell the cleaning products and aromas that is supposed to mask the bathroom smell. Our party of 4 ordered bun and pho. The bun is served in an oblong bowl, and you will soon find that this makes it difficult to mix the vegetables with the noodles, and that this dish is much smaller than other places. The nem nuong skewers are on chopsticks, which makes me wonder: are the chopsticks cheaper than the meat or do they re-use the chopsticks? Either answer would be a bad one. There is barely any meat. The pork skewer was thin and unflavourful (and an extra $0.75 for a single one) The pho was decent, but again a smaller bowl than comparable places (with comparable prices) on Hastings street. The service was ok - they were busy, and forgot to bring any bean sprouts to go with the pho. We didnt receive any service after ordering (other than getting our bean sprouts). We finished our meal and was still hungry, but decided to go take our business elsewhere. Needless to say, we would not be returning (there are too many great restaurants in the area and even minutes away on the same street). My recommendation: skip Le Petit Saigon, go to other places (rated a little lower on Google) along Hastings. The flavour and portions are better there.

First off I need to mention the decor. Not sure if it was leftover from a previous restaurant, but it is beautiful & I have to be honest, not what you would expect to see at a pho place. We ordered the following: 2 Spring Rolls #23 Small w/Extra Beef Balls #36 w/Half Noodles Iced Coffe 3 Colour Bean Pudding The spring rolls we nice & crispy on the outside with great flavour on the inside. The #23 small seemed a little smaller than what you would normally expect, but they more than made up for it with the extra beef balls. That was the most beef ball pieces I have seen in a pho, they did not disappoint! The #36 was a Seafood Soup with Rice Noodles. I asked for 1/2 noodles & if that was their definition of 1/2 a full order would easily feed a family of 4 😂. The broth had a wonderful flavour & it had a decent amount of seafood in it. The Iced Coffee was great but a little too strong for me. If I drank the whole thing I would be vibrating out of there. My partner enjoyed it. The 3 Colour Bean Pudding was okay. I liked it because it wasn't too sweet, but I thought there was too many kidney beans in it. I finished it nonetheless. Service was adequate. Overall this is a nice little restaurant that I'd be happy to visit again. @inspiringfoodie
