My husband I went on Monday (Thanksgiving) for a 100 min massage and 50 sauna/shower experience to celebrate our anniversary. It was wonderful! The owner/manager is incredibly friendly and obviously proud of the space.
We arrived right on time but with filling out the waivers (do this ahead of time via their website to save time), being given a tour, and getting our lockers and getting changed, I was worried out 100 minutes was turning into 80. Happily, we still got the full time and never felt pressured to "get out".
The massage was great, although it wasn't what we were used to. About half of it is over the sheet, before they fold it back and start working with oils and skin-on-skin. It's also all on your back, while you lie face down. They don't ask you to turn over to work on your front. Apparently you can request to turn over but they will only work on your shoulders. If we did the 100 min again, we'd probably request sooner with the oils and a flip over at some point. My husband started to get a bit uncomfortable around his Adams apple being face-down that long. But overall, it was really good.
The sauna was wonderful. We loved the privacy of it. It was truly amazing. The showers had nice pressure. There was shampoo, conditioner, and soap. Pro-tip: If you have long hair and got the massage, bring your own excellent conditioner and brush so we can brush out all the tangles from the scalp massage. Took me about ten minutes.
Everything was clean, felt sanitized. There's some sound issues that come with a building that old. Since the lockers are right next to where we got our massage, there were a few times during that people were chatting outside the door. It wasn't bad but perhaps a sign when people are in there to 'Please Be Quiet - In Use'-type of thing would be a good idea.
We will definitely be back soon. Perhaps next we'll try the 50 min foot massage in their theatre room. That looked...
Read moreReally great place and even better people working here. Every staff member from massage therapists to reception to cleaning is very friendly and goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. Reception staff is always honest about which sauna is hot or more modern which helps so much. Facilities are quite clean and their prices are great given you get a private sauna all to yourself. I mean you essentially rent 3 rooms for 90 minutes for $30 tax in, like what?? They are also flexible with extending your time if you ask them in advance and they have availability. Important things to note: be upfront about what kind of sauna experience you want(hot, dry, steamy, medium?) and they will hook you up, make reservations in advance as this place is integral part of our community and as we all love it they get busy so call in advance, call several times if need be and rememmber these are human beings working just like you and I which means they can get busy and not always get to the phone on time, bring water with you or at least a water bottle(they have a cooler) but other than that they have everything else covered. All of their private saunas come equipped with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, tissues, sheets, bath and face towel, fan, diluted essential oil bottle to add to water, paddle and a bucket. All in all I highly recommend checking them out. Massages here are wonderful, super affordable and I highly...
Read moreWhere else can you go and rent a sauna room all to yourself? Well i'm not sure but this place came up and having a terrible head cold didn't leave me in a place that I wanted to do a lot of research.I just wanted/needed to get somewhere quick and sweat it out in private! For $24 with tax you can be in snot dripping, coughing heaven and not have to worry about someone yelling at you that your gross! Nothing fancy here and the building is super old. I did my usual inspection, searched for dirt and cobwebs, things growing where they shouldn't be, basically anything that would make the germaphob in me quiver!. I was pleasantly surprised and the germaphob in me relaxed into the place. The guy who works there, Hoi, was also very helpful, even understanding when i flooded the coals. I didnt use the shower (always preferring to go home and use my own) which you get another 30 minutes in. If you've ever backpacked to a foreign country and either went to a back alley massage place in Thailand(no not anything dirty) or stayed at a run down backpacker hostel then you can compare the building to this. The only suggestion i have is to bring a pair of flip flops to walk around in as they don't supply them and bottled water. They supply you with a big towel, face cloth, linen to sit on in the sauna, a floor towel, a bucket to fill with cold water and bottle of...
