I originally booked in with Josh for a simple cut - a long bob. During the appointment, he did not speak to me. I attempted conversation with him multiple times and he simply ignored me. When it came to the actual cut, I told him I wanted to go shorter with some layers - he didn't ask for any inspo pics and immediately got to work. During the actual cut, he was incredibly aggressive and even scraped my chest with the scissors. When this happened, I jumped, but he didn't apologize or acknowledge it in any way. when it came to shampooing, he was again very aggressive. There was no head massage and he left me there with conditioner sitting in my hair for many minutes. After the shampoo, he didn't ask how i wanted my hair styled. He put some mousse in it and left me again. After, he told me I was done and didn't ask me how I felt or if I'd like him to do anything else. He got me out of the chair and that was that. He only became chatty and smiling when I told him I wanted to buy some shampoo. I went home feeling like a dog that had just finished at the groomers. I called the salon the next day to say what happened and the receptionist was apologetic and got me in to see a new stylist who was amazing. I forget her name (sorry)! During my fix appointment, Josh was there the whole time and did not acknowledge me, though I knew he saw me. I do not know if he was told about my extreme displeasure with his work and his treatment of me. Either way, his customer service skills continued to be dismal. I wish I could rate the salon higher because of the wonderful stylist I saw the second time. I feel that the receptionist should have spoken with me when I showed up for my fix appointment and ask me more about my experience the day before. On the phone she seemed to want to book me for my fix and not hear any more about it. I would have liked to be assured that my complaint would be put on file or something. Though my hair got fixed, and for that I am certainly grateful, I do not feel like the uncomfortable experience I had the day before was truly rectified - if it had been I would not be writing this review. I'm sure most of the stylists at Poppy are as awesome as the one I saw the second time and I think management should support their careers and their artistry by making sure everyone on staff is committed to professionalism and good...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been to this salon twice after being recommended by a good friend of mine who usually goes to the same stylist regularly. Both times I had completely opposite experiences. I donāt get my hair done very often and when I do, I usually let the stylist do what they want - within agreed guidelines.
The first time I went, Carly was my stylist. She was super confident and totally got what I wanted with my hair. She explained every detail about what she wanted to do and continued to do so throughout the process. This helped me trust her and I felt from the get go that I was in good hands. As it was my first time at the salon we also discussed pricing and she gave me a total cost before we even began. I loved the result and was super happy with the overall experience that I couldnāt wait to go back in a few months for the same thing.
The second time I went I had a different stylist as Carly was unavailable. Again, she was a lovely girl however, immediately I didnāt feel the same sense of confidence or communication etc that I did the first time. My file was on record from the first time I was there and I asked if I could just do the same thing again. She looked at my hair and commented on how Carly had done a great job and that āshe didnāt know how she did thatā. In the end my hair looked no different... The stylist even commented on āhow subtleā the transformation was. Considering I get my hair done twice a year, the result Iām going for is usually not so subtle.
She quickly blow dried my hair but didnāt style it with products or tools in anyway. As I have naturally curly hair it was frizzy and unkept looking as I left the salon. This time it was even more expensive than the first time. Iām not sure why?? I was never consulted it would cost more either and when I asked for the same as what I had done the first time I assumed it would cost the same.
Overall I think this salon is not consistent. I loved my results the first time I went and spoke highly about the service I received but unfortunately, I was let down by the result the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI got a haircut by Jolena about 2 months ago. I have curly hair and read that she did good wet curly cuts so thought I was in good hands. I showed up with 2 pictures of the cut I wanted, one was round and the other was diamond shaped (I would have been fine with either shape) and both had bangs falling around the eyebrows. She asked me if I wanted bangs and I said yes and as she started cutting I asked her to please be careful because my hair shrinks a lot. She went on and as as soon as I saw how much she cut off I immediately said: this is too short. She replied that otherwise it would be over my eyes, and when I insisted it was too short, she just said: that is why curly hair should be cut dry. I stopped saying anything at that point since it became clear that she would not accept she made a mistake. She went on with the cut and didnāt blow dry my hair because I arrived late (and they did accommodate my 12 minutes late arrival, which I was grateful for). So I couldnāt really tell how it would look dry. Well, I ended up with baby bangs and the shape is rectangular and very weird. It has been 2 months, and I try to style my bangs in such a way that they look longer, but they still fall around the middle of my forehead, which coupled with the weird shape just looks really weird. Not a great experience...
