Had my daughter's 5th birthday party at the space & science center. In the basement we had our own room where the kiddos got to choose from 3 or 4 options to create ( we did slime) and take home afterwards. We got 2 hours in the room to make the slime & do cake / presents , then everyone got free admission to the rest of the center for however long to play after the room closes. There is 3 level is total ( the basement is where the party room is) floors 2nd & 3d is the space & science center rest of the building. Be prepared for lots of fun, digging bones, visiting the reptiles and climbing the rock wall. Lights, Sounds, Lego & educational rooms; plus much more is available to play in here . The "workers " a k.a the Scientists were great, they came and did the slime with the kids downstairs then went back to back. Prices were incredibly affordable for the fun, laughs and play, the kids got to explore. Note to the party parents it's helpful if some parents stay to help out as the kids have 3 floors to run and explore and you'll have your hands full if you run the party of children on your own. We had 12 kids, so parental help would have been a touch easier but we survived. Thank you Okanagan Science center for the non stop fun today! Fun...
Read moreSmall but mighty! Don't be fooled by the old building, this will keep your kids entertained for a good hour... took my five and seven year old. We loved the live animal areas (axolotl anyone?) that included an aquarium with "Finding Nemo" themed fish. Lots of interactive stuff. Their main room was hosting an Artic exhibit with some bear skulls and various stations. Upstairs is lego challenges, sound play, giant "lite brite" and a large focus on space, with pictures of Canadian astronauts and their bios in the hallway, a training gyro machine, space suits and lots more on space. Coming back down the stairs there's a huge "hands-on" room with bins of animals, dinosaurs, gadgets, a walls of locks, stuff about oil/water among many other things. This is where my kids landed for a good fifteen minutes. Also, was not busy! Lots of time for kids to sink and satisfy their curiousity. Gift shop has cool socks, mugs and stuffed axolotl! Oh, and a covid virus keychain, in case you want to carry that around with you haha. Great...
Read moreWe had 12 kids, ages 6-8, and they really enjoyed the party. There was lots of room to play and eat and open presents.
We did the prehistoric dig, so the kids learned a bit about fossils, and got to see and hold some big fossils, which was super cool. Then each had their own fossil dig kit, allowing them to dig and find 2-3 fossils to keep. This was a bit harder for the 5-6 year olds, and they needed some help, but everyone loved it, and the instructors had a hammer to help which was great.
The fossil part took about 40 min, then we had time for snacks, cake and presents. We had some extra time so the kids went upstairs to explore the rest of the centre. I liked that they had Keva blacks in the room, otherwise I would’ve needed to bring more games/activities to entertain the kids.
I also liked the poster the put up as a background for a...
