We came in and sat in the lounge one evening. We were exhausted from hours of driving, and were looking for a quick bite to eat before bed. We waited a while before our server came to us - and when she did it was to tell us that she would be with us "in a minute". It look her longer than we expected, but we brushed it off to her being busy. Unfortunately, it just went downhill from there. Our server was so busy flirting the entire time we were there with the two men sitting in the lounge to the left of us, that she seemed completely oblivious to the fact that she had other tables and was actually still on shift. She didn't bring out our food, she didn't bring our cutlery, she didn't bring extra napkins, she didn't check how our food was, and she never once refilled our waters. I literally had to call other servers and the hostess over to get us things, and even had to get up several times to get more water from the bar. As I walked past our server to the bar and back, she didn't even notice. Yes, a small bill on a Friday night in the lounge is small potatoes, but we are an easy going low maintenance couple who just wanted to get in, eat, and get to bed as quickly as possible. Had she done just the basics, that would have been fine and we would have been out of her hair in 45 min, but we didn't even get the basics. Near the end of the night, I finally had to get up and talk to the evening "manager". Yet another disappointment, as after I finished explaining to him the situation, the only thing he had to say was "Ok I'll talk to her." Yes of course he should have talked to her, and written her up, but his answer was weak, dismissive, unsatisfactory, and did absolutely nothing to help improve the awful experience we had had. The only time our server was there? When it was time to pay - and of course the bill came immediately. We have always enjoyed Earls restaurants in the past - we liked the vibe, the food, and most importantly the service. However, there are plenty of amazing restaurants, so it's service that ultimately has us coming back - or not. After this experience, it's hard to want to go return. Worse still - we wrote in to management after this experience in hopes that they would respond and rectify the situation - nobody replied to our email. Beyond...
Read morevisiting from vancouver where there Earls, Cactus and Joey's. Was nice to see a chain that we recognized, so decided to visit as we know what to expect.
Rating 2.5 star but putting down 2 to bring it down since there are no 1/2 stars.
walking in, it was more like a slightly higher end white spot feel since they have lots of booths.
waitress was friendly and chatty.
Ordered:
warm spinach & 3 cheese dip $17.50 not bad 2x Canadian Prime sirloin 9 oz $33 was a bit dry and plain, no taste, not seasoned much sirloin & peppercorn sauce 9 oz $36 pretty much same as above but with peppercord sauce chicken fetticini alfredo $20 was ok, not great tasting! i've had much better pasta for that price!
asked for steak sauce as the steak was dry and bland. Told they have no sauce but was offered gravy or peppercorn. opted for peppercorn, made it better but not worthe $33 that we're paying for it.
in the end, was suprised that we were charged for the peppercorn. Yah they normally charge for it, but if you're food is only ok and you don't have steak sauce when you sell steaks, then maybe make the customer a bit happier by just throwing in the sauce? small gesture that other restaurants do, to make things right.
Not worth the $150 we paid for the meal. very disappointing as i could have got a similar meal at the Keg much better quality/tasting and they would have done whatever to make it right if something isn't...
Read moreCame as a large group. Took forever to take our orders and receive food. Half the group was done eating, and they hadn't even taken our order yet. I have a seafood allergy, and it causes anaphylaxis sometimes. My friends asked if the ceasar salad could contain anchovies. The server said likely not. When I finally got my food, after two bites, I felt like something was off. It tasted very fishy. The people I was with called the server over and asked them to double check if there was any fish in the ceasar salad. I personally have never had a ceasar salad with seafood (anchovies) in the sauce, so I'm glad my friends asked. My face stated to feel red, and I didn't feel good so I took a Benadryl that I carry all the time, as I started to react. The server came back and said that yes, there was anchovies in the sauce. I'm glad I took a Benadryl so I didn't have a full blown anaphylaxis reaction. But I've never heard of putting anchovies in ceasar salad. They need to put stuff like that on the menu. Besides that, the salad tasted gross like seafood, the dressing was so fushy overpowering. They apologized and gave me a side salad. But still, even if it weren't for that, having half the group finish eating before we even had our order taken is seriously slow. Overall I won't go to n Earl's with a large group again. Or they should take orders first, then drinks after so the kitchen can get started...
