Golden Crown Restaurant — Restaurant in Vernon

Do NOT go here. After waiting 20 minutes just to see our waitress ( there were three outer tables occupied in the restaurant and 3 people serving), we placed our order with the specification that there was a mushroom allergy. We had the waitress repeat the order. The food was a long time coming as well, mostly because they had a table of friends and family there that all the waitresses would serve before paying guests. after a few bites, my throat closed up. Lo and behold, there was mushrooms. After a panicked shot, I asked the owner why there was mushrooms in it. Her exact words were " well you just said you had an allergy, you didn't say you had an allergy allergy, so we didn't think you were serious". They took my beef and broccoli chop suey back to the kitchen and reappeared not two minutes later, stating they had made a new batch. Refused to eat anymore, took the food home, and guess what? They just picked out the bigger mushrooms. Worst ( and deadly if you have allergies)...

I was out visiting my friend in Coldstream a few weeks ago, and my last night there we decided to order takeout from this restaurant. I have rarely been more disappointed. We ordered ginger beef, and it was a soggy mess, complete mush, and much too sweet. The chicken-fried rice was marginal, made with dry old chicken and frozen mixed vegetables. And so incredibly bland, ugh. The almond gai ding was also bland, with the same dry old chicken and sad vegetables. I don't mind paying a higher price for good food, but this restaurant serves up a very disappointing meal. Honestly, I'd be ashamed if something this awful came out...

Some of the best Chinese me and my wife have ever had. Heard good things since new owners took over and had to re try them. Chow mien was hot and fresh. Almond chicken wasn’t slimy and crunchy on both sides. Sweet and sour pork was nicely breaded and not soaked in sauce, great flavour and taste. Deep fried prawns were so good, just the right amount of batter. Veggie chop sure wasn’t soggy and again, fresh! For $20 ea for a 4 course combo isn’t much more then the Mall Chinese food but the quality and flavour were. We will be back anytime we want Chinese food as imo it’s the best...
