Actual casino and dine in restaurants looked good. BUT DO NOT do the buffet. Worst buffet ever concocted by man. Some of the wait staff we just generally not nice to be around and the Asian buffet was horrible. There was only 6 dishes for the main buffet, a carving station and 2 soups with OK at best bread.
The 6 dishes for serving was as follows Mushroom fried rice Vegetable dumplings A fish dish Tofu with chili sauce Chow mein with beef A vegetable medley with I believe chicken. And a weird brown sauce that no one knew what it was as a bonus.
Now to break it down:
The rice looked inedible, the dumplings were nice, the fish looked weird and crusty after a few minutes, the Tofu was ok but honestly shouldn't have been there in place of other dishes, the vegetable medley also looked inedible and the chow mein with beef had tiny cubes of beef and the noodles were dry and sloppy.
The carving station had ham and it was just sort of there, didn't fit the theme but it was by far the best part.
The soups for choice was a turkey soup and a potato cheddar, the turkey soup looked unappetizing but for turkey soup lovers it would have probably been ok and the potato cheddar was awful being sloppy and grainy in all the wrong ways. The buns were also not the best but we're passible.
Now for dessert the choices were limited to a few squares and tarts for main hitters you had mini donuts and the ice cream with toppings.
The donuts were horrible as well. Tough, dry and overall just bad, the ice creme was too icy in texture and the overall creamy texture and flavor was lost to the overwhelming watery absence of flavor and I would dare say that the $1 McDonald's ice cream is worth so much more.
Overall worst restaurant experience I've had in my life. But the casino or other...
Read moreA very disappointing place, with a negative vibe. Limited games, badly laid out, there was scarce signage to tell you there was a restaurant and more gaming on the second floor and a non-working escalator to the second floor.
Staff are miserable and I'm assuming it's the floor manager...COMPLETELY out of his depth and clueless. I never once saw staff smiling, never once saw staff approach anyone asking how they were doing or engaging in small talk. The only interaction I had with staff is when the floor manager saw I had a vape and cellphone in my hand (not being used) and wanted to take it upon himself to let me know that the use was prohibited there.
I never said anything to staff about being a former competitively ranked poker player or that we frequent casinos around the world, perhaps if I had, we wouldn't have been followed around throughout the place. To make a long story short, we left shortly after arriving here, were online checking out other casinos before out the door and spent our money elsewhere.
The lack of player services here is also embarrassing. Water in Styrofoam cups is your complimentary drink, don't expect them to splurge on the coffee or tea you can find gratis in most service stations these days, let alone anything else. Technology here is outdated virtually nonexistent compared to elsewhere. Even compared to the other casinos we visited in area, player services here were the worst.
The expansion plans for the casino look impressive, but unless they have better management behind the expansion...I wouldn't expect anything worth seeing on its own because they are absolutely clueless about players and...
Read moreHaving this been the first buffet I have been to in Edmonton, I am quite disappointed. With a name like "The Buffet" I was expecting much more than just 1 buffet table of food. The chicken was dry, not overly at least but I couldn't even finish the piece I grabbed. I was there today for "Taste of Asia" and also expected much more from that. It was vegetable fried rice, tofu, turkey chow mein, butterfly shrimp, Chinese style chicken, vegetable spring rolls(with corn in it?), the WORST mixed vegetables I have ever seen and a few others I did not eat. Also there was pork (I believe) being carved, which was pretty cool for a buffet. Out of all the different food I had eaten, the boring plain breaded butterfly shrimp were by far the best. Everything else was spicy. Don't get me wrong, I like spicy food to an extent, but almost EVERYTHING down to the cucumber and tomato salad was spicy! Not everyone likes spice on their food, and for a while buffet to service 90% spicy food was a huge turn off for me. All in all, I was expecting much more authenticity with the food but it seems like it was just (mostly) boring over spiced vegan/vegetarian canadian versions of Chinese food. There were no pot stickers, or Shanghai noodles or proper chow mein (was very dry, not very saucy) etc. I will probably not return for flavors of Asia as I wanted Chinese food and that was not what I got. Wanting to try the other nights (Italy and India) but not very optimistic about it...
