Beside the location being great, right in front of mall and maybe great front desk staff, good bed and maybe the property being super new.. not sure if I can give this property 5 stars.. or even a 4. 3 at best. Maybe just under 3. My reason for that is below. Price was def a 4 stars hotel but what you get is far below.
We travelled with 2 toddlers and we stayed 6 nights at the King and Queen room. The A/C is great yes, but being too close to King size bed, the fan from A/C unit is almost unbearable. The window has blinds and curtain that don't close all the way. I understand why the curtain doesn't close all the way, as they are too long so would probably covered the A/C. But why not use w Shorter curtain??
As mentioned, we stayed 6 nights. We only got 2 housekeeping services. This is due because they needed to clean the room to flip to new customers than us that stayed longer. So we were never on their first priority nor second. After 3rd night, we specifically spoke to 2 housekeepers to do our room before 2pm ( when we normally come back cus our toddlers need to nap ). Both agreed said no problem. I texted the line to also request just to ensure and they also responded yes. That next day, we left our room by 9am ( as per they said, housekeepers starts at 9am ) and when we got back at 2pm with cranky toddlers, our room was not done. When asked, they said new housekeeping management blablabla.. regardless... we communicated with you 3 times and all 3 times you have acknowledged! This means you don't look through your notes/requests. We had to wait around almost half hour at the "lobby" with one of our babies being so upset, not fun.
Breakfast - if you stay 1 or 2 nights, maybe yes then bfast is good. But if you stay longer like us, by 3rd morning we started having breakfast outside. Same thing every single day. Sausages only avail on our first and last day, not sure why. Bacon was not cooked properly. You need to cook bacon separately, piece by piece.. not just slab the whole bag on tray and bake. This would get us a few crispy bacon and the rest looked like uncooked bacon.. therefore, people picked through the good ones and left the "uncooked" looking ones. Understandably so, who wants to eat wrt bacon?
Kitchenette - i mean, big beautiful space with fridge, microwave and dishwashet.. no dishware no soap no drying mat/rack. Not sure what the point of having kitchenette with dishwasher and all this without any single dishware or cutleties or even a glass? Why would you even call this a kitchenette? Although yes you can request but why? Whats with all the drawers space without anything?
Bathroom fan - i know there is one that looked like an exhaust fan, and i know it does not work cus i try to put a tissue there, when exhaust fan is working, you would see the fan sucking the tissue but this is not the case. So after shower and you doo your morning mother nature call and especially with no housekeeping service for few days, your room will smell like "you know what". Muggy, steamy.. just unpleasant.
I chose this hotel because of the great review and location. That is it. I did not have much expectations but all these details mentioned above got me thinking how would you get such high ratings? Is it because all hotels around are just that bad? My first time with Wyndham, i am normally a Marriott.. and compare this to any of Marriott properties, you would get a lot more for your bucks and after this stay, i can say that I would go back to any Marriott hotel group properties.. even if it...
Read moreIt is great to have another hotel choice adjacent to WEM. We have often stayed at West Edmonton Mall Inn..Decided to try the new Baymont in November.||As seniors price is important and Baymont is good value @ $135/with taxes. ||Awkward entrance is tucked in a small strip mall adjacent to the Jollibee drive thru. Very little parking in front of the hotel front….there is underground parking entrance beside the hotel with elevator to lobby and rooms. Trying to confirm Uber location was a bit awkward as you had to stand in front of Jollibee to ensure pickup.||WEM is across the street and the Edmonton Transit centre is a 1 minute walk.||All rooms are on 2nd floor and up. Our room had one king and one queen bed. Full size fridge, microwave but no coffee maker. Utensils are available on call. Fair size washroom with shower only. And you have to love the mirror with a built in night light.||Fair size TV but limited channels if you are looking for CNN, CNBC, TSN or SNet so disappointing that way.||Complimentary breakfast good but would have been top notch if there were hash browns available with the scrambled eggs and sausages. Cereal is available but limited if you are looking for low sugar option….only cheerios in the respect but lots of fruit loops and such. Yogurt and muffin offered. ||All in all, fair value, couple wrinkles to iron out with tv channels, coffee maker and breakfast but we...
Read moreWe came all the way for WEM, and I was initially considering booking the JW, but it’s just too far from it. To be honest, I was not so sure about it, but after reading some great reviews about Baymont West Edmonton and seeing how close it is to the mall (just across the street!), I decided to give it a try — and I’m so glad I did! The location couldn’t be more convenient for our trip, and the overall experience exceeded my expectations.
We stayed in a 2-bedroom loft and a 1-bedroom loft, both of which were very spacious and ideal for families traveling with kids. ( and they do have crib/playground!) The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, especially the lady manager, who went above and beyond to assist us. My son absolutely loved her! The hotel was clean and well-maintained, with spotless cafeteria counters and tables. The beds were very comfortable, with soft mattresses and pillows.
The only minor downside was the AC in both rooms, which would sometimes switch to cooling mode on its own, and the key cards, which occasionally stopped working, requiring a reset at the front desk. And It would be great if they could upgrade to a fob system for added security.
Overall, Baymont West Edmonton was a fantastic choice. We’d definitely stay here again and will recommend it to friends!...
