After being charged 608 dollars for a themed room the “Camping room” I will say this the room was an absolute nightmare, I walk into the room and Bam first impression MUSTY I bet the carpets have never been shampooed since the first day this place was opened ,we settle in unpack we have our 2 younger children with us during the stay which they see the jacuzzi tub and want to check it out so go to turn the tap for the hot water and it’s stripped just spinning zero hot water ,kids are super disappointed so we rent a movie for them in the mean time I get maintenance to come look at the tub which at this time it’s 6:30 the guy comes with his tools starts spinning the tap says it’s normal which at this point I’m getting annoyed were trying to watch a movie , I’m not a Plummer by any means but I damn well know when you turn the tap and it spins it’s stripped or needs to be tightened back up anyways he’s fighting with this tap for a good 45 mins trying to get the tap off which is a simple set screw, tub has been filling with cold water the entirety of this guys adventure he eventually gets the tap off and the we have hot water you’d think the story would be over but no……he leaves I go to drain the tub cause the guy left the tap running the entire time and the tub doesn’t empty , the drain is clogged at this point im not sure to be mad or just not surprised , I call back down and the maintenance guy comes up yet again told this is normal I guess it takes literally 3 hours too drain I am not over exaggerating whatsoever. by this point it’s late I give up on the hot tub end of story? …..nope ….. my wife asks me too turn up the heat there’s radiant wall heating…walk over to thermostat says its maxed already and there ain’t nothing kicking from wall heaters there cold to the touch it’s December the windows are drafty I literally felt like we were camping outside maybe it’s part of the whole experience my kids are in bunk beds next to the drafty windows so they send the maintenance guy up at 1030 at night too fix the bloody heat my kids are sleeping he finally agrees with me that the heat wasn’t working and offers us 2 space heaters which he eventually drops off in the middle of the night like FML than someone calls our room and apologies for the room it’s after midnight and they offer a 10 percent discount which i with great difficulty got up to 20 percent on the room hah 10 percent on a 600 dollar room that nothing works this is an insult more than a sorry your stay has been a complete disaster anyways the next morning we wake up too both our children coughing and sniffing sore throats and these small space heaters aren’t doing anything we were planning on staying all week in this hotel so I go down and ask to speak to the manager which you need to bring a translator in your suitcase cause she does not speak English yup 20 percent that’s what they offered seriously take your money elsewhere the only fantasy about this place is the is the service it’s pure fantasy I wouldn’t let my exs in-laws stay at this place I honestly would have had a better stay sleeping in the driver seat of my car you may think my story is fictional or exaggerated but I was smart enough to take pictures and videos sadly I can’t add videos.

Convenient and fun location. The hotel itself is very old and needs more or faster elevators. There are constant lineups, esp.at checkout times in the morning. The service staff use the same elevators at the same time. Many upset people waiting and complaining daily. The front counter staff are friendly and approachable. Other random notes: - Green apples and lemon water are available for guests daily in the lobby. - We had a standard bunk room for up to 6 people (2 dble beds plus 1 bunk bed). Toiletries and towels plus discounts are set up for 4 people only. You have to ask the front counter for assistance to get enough for everyone over this standard limit. - Nice to have towels available for use at the water park and be able to walk back to the hotel to shower and change. Would be also good to have a towel drop-off station in the lobby or hallway. Instead of having to hang wet towels in the room until the next service. - Ice available from a machine on each floor but no water fountains or water bottle full stations. This should be a minor upgrade with the ice machines to add a tap. 2 bottles of water are provided in the room (insufficient since we had 6 people but I would have expected at least 4 bottles). - The beds are generally comfortable but the lower bunk of the bunk bed is really low. The kids hit their head constantly. - There is no bathroom fan. - Lighting is awkward and on/off switches are not easily assesible at the entrance door. - Our room was very dark being on the 4th floor, we had a view of the hotel tower and the garage/mall roof top but there was little light from above. No green at all just concrete and glass. Kept the windows closed but could still have some light with the sheer curtains in place. The black out curtains were good for the mornings but not really necessary. - Parking is free and can be anywhere outside. Nothing is specific to the hotel other than the loading and valet areas marked with signage. Access is tricky with the current road (& train) construction surrounding the mall. - Stairs available for walking down (leads outside) but only elevators for access the rooms. Key card is needed for the applicable floor. - No gym at the hotel but you can ask for free access pass (daily) to Crunch Fitness in the mall for use of their equipment and facilities. Classes are extra. Approx 8min walk from the lobby. - The hotel's value is in its location and the convenience it offers. It could use some modernization and renovations, but likely this is not possible without significantly impacting operations.

This hotel does not provide the basic necessity of HOT WATER, as per the hotel/guest contract. We stayed at the Fantasyland hotel for 5 nights, the water seemed to be running cold while hand washing, but didn't think much of it. The next morning, went to have a shower, and the water ran ice cold (ran it for over 1/2 hour). I went to the front desk to say something and I was told that they were aware of the issue and the person walked away from me. The next morning, same thing, my husband and I both went to the desk, we were told they were working on it, and they went back to their conversation like we weren't there. Day 3, same cold water, went to the front desk AGAIN, a nice lady was shocked that we weren't helped, sent maintenance to our room, 40 minutes later, he got lukewarm water running, and told us we just have to let it run awhile for it to warm up because the water comes from the roof (it never got warmer than lukewarm before running cold again), day 4, ice cold water again, went to the hotel manager, she offered us to move rooms on our last night there (they had a convention going on, so probably why we were dismissed earlier on because the hotel was full). We opted out because the vacation was over. She offered us the free brunch the next day, but we were leaving for the airport at 9:30 and brunch starts at 10:30. She phoned me while at the airport and offered me a discount on my next stay. I don't think so, why would I give the hotel more money when they broke their end of the hotel/guest contract. If they hadn't dismissed us from the first day, and actually tried to resolve the situation, this review wouldn't be so bad. The room we were in was 418 (Imperial room). I think before this hotel spends more money re-theming rooms (as they are constantly doing), they should focus more on the problems at hand so that they are within their end of the contract, and their guests are happy. My advise to everyone, do no stay here. Having a jacuzzi tub in these rooms is useless as the water never gets hot enough to use them. We were not able to use the jacuzzi at all. Housekeeping does a so-so job, doesn't empty garbages and restock basic supplies (like toilet paper). What a waste of money staying here. If you want to be close to West Edmonton Mall, stay across the street at the West Edmonton Mall Inn. BUT, if you want to feel like you are living in a 3rd world country, then this is the hotel for you. Even a campground provides hot showers!!!! August 25, 2025 - ETA - I was contacted by the hotel managers boss? I was offered a $200 refund for a $2055 week from hell. I declined the offer. I figure that I have the Better Business Bureau still to go through. A hotel has a hotel/guest contract to provide hot water. August 27, 2025 - ETA - Still no word from the hotel re: this experience. I am assuming they plan on sweeping it under the rug. If they cared about their reputation, they would deal with this swiftly. August 29, 2025 - ETA -At this point, my husband wants to pursue legal action. The longer they take to respond, the angrier we get that they broke their end of the hotel/guest contract. If I don't hear from the hotel in a timely manner, a report will also be filed with Alberta Human Rights under the public health standards for hotels (Alberta). What a hotel is legally supposed to supply to the guest in Alberta: Public health standards Under the Public Health Act and its regulations, hotels must provide accommodations that meet a minimum standard of health and sanitation. Key requirements include: Water: A continuous supply of hot and cold running water that is safe to drink. The hot water must be between 46ºC and 60ºC at the fixture.

Cleanliness and structural integrity: The room and common areas must be clean, structurally sound, and free of pests and hazards.

September 1, 2025 - ETA - Report filed with Alberta Public Health, email sent to General Manager of Fantasyland hotel on Saturday. No...

I’ll start with the Good scroll down to the next paragraph for the bad i was born and raised in Edmonton and always heard stories about how amazing the Fantasy Land hotel was with it magnificent themed rooms. This past Monday 02/26/2024 my girlfriend surprised me with a couple of nights for my birthday ; and to say the least I was blown away when Initially saw the roman themed room with a jacuzzi in the room and they even dropped off complimentary chocolates due to the occasion all this was amazing.

Now the bad first thing I noticed in the room the jacuzzi was oddly surrounded by carpet despite the entry hall/bathroom was tile. A step to get in and out of the jacuzzi was of the same tile which proved to be a bad choice will explain later. Anyway we order room service from L1 restaurant just a simple pizza, well to say the least it was 7/11 quality pizza for $48, no matter we shrugged it off filled the jacuzzi and had a soak we decided to turn on the tv(roughly 48”) and much to our surprise there was very limited channels (51) some of which wouldn’t even function not to mention the tv was fairly old and didn’t have any smart features( Netflix, Disney +, YouTube ect) never the less we found a meh channel and had our soak which with the Jets was quite nice. However, when i needed to use the washroom I stood up took one foot out and onto the tiled step and immediately my lead foot slipped out in front of me causing me to fall forward with no hand rail or support of any kind my only option was to use my left leg as a anchor to slow my fall. I instantly felt a strain in my left leg as well as saw bruising. Naturally I was quite upset about this due to the lack of safety measures put in place when I saw no anti slip Matts in my room prior to going into the tub I assumed the tile would’ve been that slip resistant material as the walkout shower had the same tile. Needless to say I went down to the front desk(12:00am) with a slight limp so I could explain what happened and ask for a ice pack and to alert the staff to my situation. I was met with a uninterested employee at the front desk (which would turn out to be a theme for my stay) when I asked for a ice pack I was told “it was for emergencies only but whatever” I also asked if I could get a anti slip mat when I was told “there should be one” which there wasn’t so I Insisted and she did bring one up. Next morning I went down and spoke with a manager (as there was not one that evening) and he was as uninterested un caring as the employee had been he did to his credit call mall security to take a look at my injury and make sure I was okay and to analysis the scene and report back which the WEM security officer was very nice and caring of my situation and verified my incident with the hotel; and what did that manager do… absolutely nothing he said he’d pass the info on to his general manager and would give us a call in the next 5 days! The staff here at the Fantasy land hotel don’t even pretend to care about the well being of there guests when it become inconvenient for them! They ruined a amazing decorative atmosphere that this hotel is known for. I worry for anyone who stays at this hotel as this slipping hazard is also a problem for the walkout shower I got a relatively minor injury and I’m (23) I can’t even imagine what if this happened to someone older what kind of harm could happen because of this...
