just wanted to share something about my experience at First Round earlier today. The food, honestly, was incredible everything I tried was flavorful, and honestly exceeded my expectations. From the presentation to the portion sizes, it really felt like a step above your average sports bar food. The drinks were on point too, and the atmosphere overall was fun and energetic. But I have to mention something that seriously affected the vibe and that’s the general manager, Scott. I think was his name I don’t know how someone like that ends up in a leadership position, because his energy was off from the second I walked in. He came across as genuinely cruel, not just in a “strict manager” kind of way, but in a way that was clearly demeaning, especially toward the women working under him.
You could just feel the tension whenever he was around. He was rude for absolutely no reason — snapping at staff, giving looks that could cut through steel, and speaking to them in this condescending, almost disgusted tone. The way he treated the girls made everyone uncomfortable — I wasn’t the only one who noticed. It honestly made me feel so bad for them.
What really struck me, though, was how well the staff — especially the women — handled it. Despite being treated so unfairly and so coldly, they still smiled, stayed polite, kept up their amazing service, and held themselves with so much grace. You can tell they’re doing their best to rise above it, but it doesn’t make it right. You can also tell it hurts. No one should have to work in an environment where they’re clearly disrespected and made to feel small by someone who’s supposed to be leading the team.
Honestly, Scott should not be in a managerial role. Leadership is supposed to uplift people, not tear them down. It’s disappointing to see such hardworking, kind, capable women treated with that kind of disregard.
First Round has something really great going with the team they’ve built, especially the front-of-house girls who clearly keep the place running smoothly. But the management — or at least Scott — is an issue. I hope someone in a position of real authority takes notice, because no one should have to go to work every day and deal with that kind...

First 2 photos from last night and the last 2 was from November 2019 (I did a screenshot so people can see the dates) -- had been here many times but I don't always take pictures of my meals (I am moody) lol
I love going to 1st RND at the West Edmonton Mall because they have the best Fish (cod) and Chips. Last night, I was disappointed as my fish came out as a "mini" version of what it used to be --- my plate was almost empty -- as you can see I did not get the coleslaw included in the regular meal. I asked the server if they made a mistake serving me a Kid's Fish and Chips Meal and she said it wasn't a mistake everyone gets the same size of fish. She was fast to give me 2 options: Order another piece of fish for $4 Order a different meal altogether.
The manager was unapologetic almost condescending --- gave me a COVID spiel, he basically blames COVID for everything... Same as the server, he offered for me to order another piece of fish -- I declined so I got my food back from the kitchen. 🤣🤣🤣
They said nice to people who show up at work in the service industry.. But what if the people have no customer service at all?
I just hope the manager spoke to me in a nicer manner and I will still be walking out as a happy customer. I understand how expensive things are nowadays -- and I understand why the serving size would be smaller.
Anyways, it ends here... This is the longest review on Google I...
Read moreI haven’t even got my food yet and I’m already unimpressed. We were told a 10 min wait just so they could wipe a table that was empty. We had to wait 25 minutes. TO WIPE A TABLE? seriously. Just tell us the wait time, don’t lie to us. We get to the table and there’s no menus. We asked two different times for menus, but supposedly they don’t have any. Half of our phones are dead so we can only see the online menu on some of our phones. The menu on the website didn’t even freaking work🙄. Then we found another site that worked to find the menu, but it took 8 minutes to load. It was ridiculous. We ordered an appetizer and our drinks, waiter comes back 15 mins after we ordered, to ask what flavour wings we want with the appetizer. She then said “okay i’ll place the order now”. When things are ordered, place the order immediately. Jeez. So slow, and disrespectful waiters here. Our waiter even asked us what flavour and walked away in the middle of it. She didn’t let us respond. She just walked away. Soooooo impolite.
Talk about non inclusive. Imagine being Amish and walking into here. Or an elderly without a phone. Or not having data to access the menus. So terrible.
Finally the appetizer came and the wings were literally COLD. Not even lukewarm. They were actually cold. We were obviously unimpressed, however, the manager was excellent at getting us an entire new dish with everything nice and hot. And it came out fast!!!!
The manager is great, however, the waiters weren’t exactly what you’d expect when going to a restaurant. Food was good.
Overall, due to the experience we had, I would...
