Where to start with this 'attraction', The animals in 'the cavern' are incredibly cramped.
We will start this review on the reptiles enclosures; the large boa constrictors they have are in an unacceptable size enclosure and they are housed together. Snakes should never be housed together due to the fact that if one gets ill, they both get ill. You cannot feed them in the enclosure causing unnecessary stress from feeding out of enclosure and having to move back. Which could cause regurgitation.
On to the marine life; three large turtles, a small school of assorted fish and a handful of large sharks all cramped into a space smaller than the sea lions? What an absolute joke. You have that entire area where the submarines used to be completely unutilized but have the audacity to claim that you care about the conservation of these animals.
The worst thing about this sad side show attraction was the penguins. They were in an enclosure smaller than my tiny garden shed. These birds have no idea what proper care looks like. One in the corner was picking its feathers out, no, not moulting but self mutilating or plucking.
At the end of the 'experience' two staff members were holding a small ball python, one was explaining the requirements(which were very wrong, including the fact that the ball python was underfed)
Snakes also do not require UVB lamps or lights in general if they are nocturnal, this just adds to the stress. I feel great sadness for all the animals there, especially the wrongly looked after ones.
Also charging for a digital picture on top of the 12$ admission to this ungodly representation of animal care is ridiculous.
Seriously, save your money because this 'show' is...
Read moreIt has been a very long time since I have been back to that underground Zoo since the 90s. And I guess things have indeed changed down there, or maybe stayed the same as far as I can remember. But after coming back here many years later, all I can say is that i's nice to see it once again. It might be small to those who come here and see the water life creatures. But the kids would indeed enjoy the animals and the sea life down there to boot. The care takers are nice and willing to teach a thing or two of how well they behave and how they can survive in the wild. Bottom line, the price is good to check it out at least once or a few times. And something to check out if you are trying to kill...
Read moreTiny space. We maybe spent all of 10-20 minutes in here at most. Seeing some of the creatures was neat, but I agree with the other comments about the penguin exhibit. I hope they have way more space than what the public can see because the penguins looked lifeless and sad. They just stood there staring into the abyss…they didn’t move, swim, or anything, and I think I counted about 13 of them in a line on the rock they have. Also, fyi the exhibit is not accessible for those with mobility issues…the only way in and out is by taking a large...
