I just walked the Esplanade Riel Footbridge in Winnipeg, and it was such a great experience. The bridge itself is beautifulâmodern, clean, and full of character. The views are what really make it special. On one side you get the city skyline, and on the other, the river winding past the trees. Itâs peaceful but still feels connected to everything.
Itâs not a long walk, but itâs the kind that makes you slow down and take it in. You see joggers, cyclists, families, and tourists all just enjoying the space. Thereâs also something really cool about being right between downtown Winnipeg and St. Bonifaceâit kind of feels like youâre walking through two worlds in one go.
There wasnât much happening on the bridge itself when I was there, but Iâve heard there are sometimes vendors or pop-ups. Still, even without that, itâs a great spot for a quick walk, photos, or just a quiet moment with a view. If youâre in the area, itâs definitely worth crossing.
Read moreIt is a great pedestrian bridge, just keep an ear open for cyclists coming up behind you without warning, coming to close and going too fast. It is a shame that no one seems to be able to make a go of running a restaurant in the structure at the centre of the bridge. I never got around to try out the food from the last tennant, Mon Ami Louis. It had good reviews. Could've,...

Hopefully the ice cream vendor is open on the East side or Mon Amis Louis serving their delicious eats smack dab in the middle but if not, still a wonderful spot to see the Red River in all its glory or marvel at the architectural beauty of the Museum of Human Rights just a...
