Ploče Gate — Attraction in Dubrovnik

This review is for the taxi stand right outside the Police Gate. Travelers, beware of scams. We took a taxi from the stand, and a few minutes after getting on the road, the driver claimed that his meter app on his phone wasn’t working and transferred to a meter that was not mounted on his dashboard but instead sitting in his cup holder. A trip that typically costs us about €7 including tips to Lapad using Bolt or Uber ended up being €27. We are generous tippers and understand the hard work and don't mind paying a little more but we don’t appreciate being cheated. As much as I wanted to support the local taxi...they are not helping themselves.

Lessons learned if you experience something similar as they said the meter is not working. Tell them to stop and get yourself...

This was our main gate when we arrived from a late night arrival at 3am. So peaceful and quiet when the walls are lit up they are just beautiful. The gorgeous harbour is just down and in this gate and on your left. Visit it often as it's always changing and a nice place to people watch. We got the Lokrum.HR ferry from the harbour to the island. Well worth it! The grocery store on the left just before you get into town will be cheaper than the shops inside. So get your provisions here if the timing is...

This is the main gate that leads you into the fortified medieval wall city. There is the boat tour port nearby. This main gate also gets you downward road towards the main area of the city, without climbing up and down the steps!!! **
