Divine food with a great view! Konoba Kenova is quite new on the scene, but has a great location. Instead of being inside the old town, they are located just outside the walls (Ploče Gate) with a view of the walls. It is something different again than sitting in one of the beautiful alleys. The name has also an interesting story. Kenova is a local word meaning "whats new". We enjoyed the location very much and visited Kenova for dinner time. We were lucky to get a table, they were quite a few reservations on the others.
The seating arrangement is also among the interesting things, as they are located on the stairs, meaning no matter at which table you sit you will have an amazing view. Feels like in a cinema with much better food.
Our recommendation is for dinner as you can enjoy the sunset and the lighting up of Dubrovnik, while you are still close to the old town and can have drinks later.
As we liked it there so much, we ordered also more than one dish. Starting with the prawn bisque with herbal focaccia crostini, it was delicious although a little salty, we continued with homemade gnocchi and homemade ravioli with prawn filling and brown butter, and it was heaven for our taste buds. Of course, local wine couldn’t be missing, and ordered a bottle of red wine. And what would be a good dinner without finishing it with dessert? We had the cake of the day, which was a chocolate one and milles feuilles . Both divine.
Although not long on the scene, they know what they are doing.
The waiter was very friendly and we talked a lot with him, although in the end, it took him a little longer to bring us the check, it didn’t bother us as much as the view in front of us was beautiful. If you are looking for a great place for dinner in Dubrovnik, this is the...
Read moreExtremely disappointing experience – unprofessional and discriminatory behavior
During our recent visit, my partner and I had an extremely unpleasant experience. We sat at a table and waited for over 20 minutes without anyone approaching us. Shortly after, two other guests arrived and were greeted immediately by the waiter.
As soon as he overheard us speaking Croatian (we are from Slovenia), he lost all interest in us and focused entirely on the other table. He proceeded to serve them while telling us to “wait a little,” despite the fact that there were only three occupied tables in total – all of which had already been served except ours.
It became clear that the waiter prioritized English-speaking tourists and showed complete disregard for us, possibly assuming we were locals. This behavior was not only unprofessional but also made us feel unwelcome and disrespected.
I sincerely believe the management should address this issue, as such treatment does not reflect the values of proper hospitality. Every guest deserves to be treated with the same courtesy and respect, regardless of where they come from or what language they speak.
Unfortunately, based on this experience, I cannot recommend this establishment.
Kind regards, A...
Read moreAs Argentinians, we truly value good food — but even more, we value the kind of attention that makes you feel at home. Kenova Konoba gave us both, and in the best possible way.
The food was honest, homemade, full of flavor and soul. Everything we tried — from the starters to the desserts — was thoughtfully prepared, fresh, and rooted in local tradition. It’s the kind of cooking that makes you smile with every bite.
But what made the night unforgettable was Marín. His warmth, knowledge, and sense of hospitality made us feel as if we were having dinner in a friend’s home. He didn’t just bring food to the table — he recommended dishes with care, shared stories, and matched each plate with a different local wine that complemented it perfectly.
He even suggested a dessert and sweet wine combo that was the perfect way to end the evening — and he was right.
In a world full of restaurants, it’s rare to find a place that feels genuinely human and heartfelt. Kenova Konoba is one of those places. We left with full bellies, smiling faces, and already wanting...
