By far the worst food and dining experience of our 10 days in Croatia. We chose this place for the view and the quiet away from the busy Main Street inside the old town walls. Big mistake! Seems to be a tourist trap where you pay for a view. I tried to order the Meat Peka dish which sounded great but I was told that it had to be ordered many hours in advance... Ok fair enough, I asked the waiter what is good and after thinking for a minute he points to a random meat dish called Cevapi. He explains they are “grilled meatballs”. I figure ok seems like a safe dish. My wife orders the Tagliatelle with shrimp and salmon in sauce. Again, seems like a pretty safe dish. We also ordered an plate of mussels and grilled vegetables. The mussels arrived and they were fine. The basket of bread was terrible. Worst bread we’ve had in Croatia... very dry, bland and no flavor. The main courses then arrive and yikes! My “Cevapi” was basically a handful of little breakfast sausages and french fries. The meat was somewhat edible but it was super salty to the point that it was like eating a salt packet. Fries were average but I didn’t come to Croatia to eat cold average french fries. My wife’s tagliatelle was a large bowl of noodles drenched in a thick cream sauce. When I say drenched, the noodles were swimming in the sauce. It was terrible. We ended up feeding the shrimp to the cats sitting by the wall of our table. Had we not been starving from not eating all day I’m pretty sure we would have barely touched our food but ended up eating about half of it since we paid for it and it was already 10pm. So we get the check and It was waaaay overpriced for the quality of food but we just want to get out of there at this point. I ask to pay our tab and guess what! They don’t take credit cards! A lovely capper to our terrible dinner. Would have been nice to mention that up front. Or put a sign on the table. So luckily I had just enough cash on me to cover the bill but felt bad that I literally did not have anything left to tip the waiter. I had exactly 30 kuna left just enough for us to catch the bus back to our hotel. So to recap... I was overcharged for garbage food, had to use up all of my cash so that I couldn’t even get a small gelato on our way home and finally I’m embarrassed because I couldn’t leave a tip for the server. Avoid this place at all costs! There are too many fine restaurants that are right around the corner. This place...
Read moreA hidden gem. Lovely place. Stunning location with a view over the harbour. We were there in October and they have a glassed in seating area which is cosy and sheltered and you still have the idyllic outlook over the bay.
We had the pasta Istia which was good, simple and wholesome and the gnocchi which was delicious. The house wine was a local wine from the owner's families vineyard, which was excellent and, for the quality, very reasonable compared to other places in Dubrovnik.
Portions are on the (very) generous size and the price was well below restaurants within the city walls. I can't remember exactly what we paid but it was on the lower side compared to other places.
The service was excellent. Very friendly but relaxed and not fussy.
Worth visiting just for the location. Everything else is a...
Read moreBest to avoid this place. The view is outstanding. We waited more than one hour for our food to come. As others have noted, the service is nonexistent. The beef carpaccio was good, but there was nothing much too it. They forgot the tuna carpaccio. They also forgot to give me a wine menu, so they lost some profit right there. The gnocchi was gummy but serviceable. The wife reports that the Croatian shrimp were extremely bland. The kids fries and meatballs looked like they came straight out of an Ore Ida bag.
I’m used to waiting awhile after a meal in Europe for service, but an hour wait for the food is simply unacceptable. The price is also high but basically in range for Dubrovnik. Luckily, there are better restaurants...
